Most people feel that way about their home park but for people who love to travel and visit various parks, Carowinds is definitely worth it. I traveled 8+ hours to go to parks like Williams Grove, Hersheypark (back when all they had was the Comet) and Conneaut Lake. Didn't care one bit about the long drives. I just kept thinking about the new experience I was about to have.
If you love amusement parks and coasters and traveling, time is no factor, you just go.....regardless of the park.
