General Carowinds discussion

Something else I forgot to mention on friday, there is a small plaque on Electro Spin's operating booth that lists off some stats for the ride. Apprently the ride has been in operation since 1999, had no idea Top Scans had been around that long. To put it another way, it and Afterburn are the same age, lol.

Thanks for the info, gabed! That was really nice to know because Electrospin looks so nice just like a new ride. Did they put the light package on Do-s-do yet? If they don't I hope they have it by Friday because that will make the County Fair eveb better, in its appearance. So excited for the rest of the 2017 season and when County Fair is completely finished!

It is hard to tell from that picture but when I was there yesterday and took a closer look at it, I take back what I previously said (about rainmaker stage.) It seems almost 100% certain that this is in fact the ladder game. There are big eye hooks on the back wall that line up with the eye hooks in the concrete. Additionally, there is conduit run to electrical boxes beside each hook on the wall (for the button to hit when/if you make it).

Yeah, they have been around awhile. Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland was installed in 2001. Here is our Troika at it's original home in Scotland.

On the hard hat tour, they said our Troika came from a park that shut down after the earthquake in Japan.

"Carowinds is expected to get the Scottish Troika, Breakdance, Music Express, Top Scan and Wave Swinger."

Dorney also got a Troika in addition to Worlds of Fun. Wasn't the other Troika from Europe too? I read somewhere that Cedar Fair sent a group to Japan, maybe Do-Si-Do wasn't the only ride they found or maybe it was.

I agree. Someone mentioned months ago that the Breakdance they bought was a family version. Carowinds is probably next up for a Planet Snoopy update. Could next year be a Vortex conversion and a Planet Snoopy Breakdance? A Breakdance excites me more than a Vortex conversion. I can see how this could work at Great America, but with Intimidator and Fury, a floorless Vortex would be somewhat anti-climatic at Carowinds. Cedar Point's conversion made sense because of the size of the ride.
Also I could be wrong but when the article came out about the Cedar Fair ride pickers, they had not gone to Japan, but the Top Scan and possibly some of the other rides were already at Carowinds. RollerBee, I do recall reading somewhere that 2 Troikas were found in Europe. My guess would be we have one of those.
