That's one ride to 4. How would this make it feel less special when Dorney is getting troika as well as Worlds of Fun?

I think he means that Electro Spin will not be as much of a rarity than it was before Knott's announced Sol Spin. Still, even with Knott's that's only four permanent Top Scans in North America. Still a hard ride to come across in amusement parks in this neck of the woods.

Roller coaster rivaling longest in the U.S. anchoring coastal Alabama amusement park

It's our intent to put people in roller coasters next May, Memorial Day weekend," said Tim Martin, president of Creek Indiana Enterprises Development Authority. "It's risky. We know it. But we have a great construction team. We are going forward and it will be successful."

Martin compared the roller coaster to Thunderbolt, which opened in New York's Coney Island in 2014. The same designer of the Foley roller coaster, Italian-based Zamperla, designed and manufactured Thunderbolt.

I just posted this at the same time in another thread....lol (I deleted mine though after seeing this one).

I'm not sure how far along with construction they are, but a summer/Memorial Day 2017 opening seems quite ambitious to accomplish by building a park from scratch. I know it's not a huge park, but they seem to want to have a good standard of quality vs. concrete jungle (aka Six Flags). It looks like a great project. It may get me to the gulf area of Alabama sometime soon. I've been wanting to go to Pensacola anyway so this would be an added bonus across the border.

Here is the article I posted which has even more information about the rest of the project: http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2016/11/roller_coaster_rivaling_longes.html

ANother overhyped carnival park? Zamperla coaster....
Their kiddy coasters are nice but how does their large coasters rate? I don't recall hearing good reviews of Pony Express or Volares

The Volares are terrible. The motocoasters are awesome. I've been on Pony Express and Steeplechase and they are perfect family rides.

This is going to be a larger version of Coney Island Thunderbolt (not anywhere near the longest coaster in the country as the headline claims). Thunderbolt is a tad bit rough but pretty fun and one of the most intense rides I've ever been on.

Yeah I've not heard any negatives about Pony Express. I think it's a fun coaster. Their adult rides (not the Volares) seem to be pretty decent. I need to get back to Coney Island next summer.

$5M refurb\modification going on of The Great Nor’Easter at Morey’s Piers

“Morey’s Piers have brought in a crew to tear apart much of the 2,100-foot-long roller coaster piece by piece. We’re trying to create a smoother ride... The job also involves updating the 21-year-old coaster, he said, adding that sections of track and frame waiting to be added to the ride are laid out now on the beach around Surfside Pier. Pieces that have been taken off and aren’t going back are in a staging area around the old Hunt’s Pier, now owned by the Morey family."

So!!! Energylandia in Poland will be adding not 1 but 3 new coaster that caters to every age group in 2017, one of which being an Intiman water coaster. Then in 2018 a huge hyper/giga-esk coaster either by Intiman or Vekoma leaving it up to the public to decide by votes. I'm more leaning towards the Intiman version myself. That's 4 coasters in 2yrs. Can a park really do that? Lol. What are your thoughts?? The park just opened in 2014.

Fun Spot America (Kissimmee) 2017:

A wooden roller coaster is expected to open next year at Fun Spot America in Kissimmee, the company announced Thursday.

The ride will be the only wooden coaster in the Southeast U.S. to include a barrel roll, according to John Arie Jr., Fun Spot CEO.

"We have worked tirelessly with the Gravity Group to design a ride that will be a must-ride coaster for any thrill seeker and coaster enthusiast, definitely bucket-list worthy," he said.

Fun Spot says it's investing $6 million in the attraction, and that it will open in the summer of 2017.

The coaster, which has not yet been named, will be 2,256 feet long and will top out at 82 feet high. Its top speed will be 48.5 mph, and it will feature 11 instances of air time. Each train will hold 12 passengers, held into space with a lap bar.

“It’s got 0 G’s through that barrel roll, so you don’t really even feel the pressure of coming out of your seat," Arie said.

The coaster has not yet been named.

"We are still working through the theming, naming rights and sponsorship opportunities," Arie said. The attraction is in talks with a major sponsor, he said. In addition to naming the coaster, that company would be allowed to theme the ride's two trains, he said.

Design work is being done by Cincinnati-based Gravity Group.

The new ride will be constructed where two flat-track Go-Kart courses — Road Course and Slick Track — have been.

Fun Spot opened White Lightning, a wood coaster, at its Orlando location near International Drive in 2013. It goes 44.3 mph and tops out at 69.7 feet, according to the Roller Coaster Database.

“If it weren’t for White Lightning we would never be in the roller coaster market. We wouldn’t be where we are today," Arie said. “I get goosebumps when I think about it. I believe it’s a grand slam.”

Looks awesome! I never thought the thing I would be most excited for on my next trip to Florida would be going to the two Fun Spots.
