I went today and it looks like they've poured a barrier edge for what looks like the patio area. The funnel Cake Emporium is now open. Lastly looks like the water slides will be opening very soon as well. I did take 2 photos while on Thunder Road then I realized the waterpark was open.

[mod="Wormy"]Can't take on-ride photos man, you guys know the rules.[/mod]

To my knowledge, Six Flags has installed quite a few of them, and Holiday World added one back in 2013. I have ridden a larger and slightly similar version at Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe. The first drop is the best part of the experience.

The new one at SFOG was pretty awesome. Might've been the bowl part up top causing a bigger drop into the "wave" but if you get the clover leaf rafts loaded with lots of weight there is good floater air to be had at the top.

Wormy the supervisor gave me permission when I asked.

Just because one guy gave the thumbs up, doesn't make it okay. I appreciate your willingness to take pics to share, but please no more photos from the coasters.

With that out of the way, a small update.

I was in Charlotte on Monday so I decided to swing by the park for a quick visit Monday.

We were going to do Skytower first, but it was surprisingly closed. Surely this is an omen of it's impending demise.

Harmony Hall is looking pretty good, an outdoor patio section is currently being added.

The "front" of the building is awaiting some light fixtures and likely a sign at the top.

Here's the "back" of the building.

The yard in front is looking nice and smooth and awaiting grass. (Or a Huss Giant Frisbee )

I don't have any pictures, but the railroad bed for the new layout of Snoopy's Junction is being set. You can see it clearly from Intimidator if you sit on the right side. It is pretty much going to be a small oval.

Funnel Cake Emporium is finally open!

Inside is a "toppings station" with enough powdered sugar to kill a gaggle of children. I caught them as they were closing, so I assume they have more stuff in the middle of the day.

The Carolina Showplace area which used to be the part of the park with the most shade, seems to have much less shade. They either severely trimmed the trees, or just ripped the old ones out and planted new ones. I'll have to check old pictures to be sure.

Over at the Go-Kart area, there is still a very slow progression of tire clean up.

The coaster next year will be the first ride entirely made of recycled tires.

There are some holes being drilled though, I guess for soil samples?

I stopped by Chickie & Pete's since it was my first visit since it's been open. While it does look extremely nice inside, it's also extremely cramped. All the tables are insanely close together, I can't even imagine it packed with people. Didn't eat anything, will save that for another day.

I wasn't able to sweet talk the cute lifeguard into letting me into a closed Boomerang Bay for a quick picture run. So this is the only picture of the slides I have. Sorry.

Side note, the park is selling parasols now. What the hell?

It's going to be a hot Summer folks, check out a show next time you visit the park.

Again, not too many pictures, but the rest from the day are HERE.

Glad to hear they are saving the train. Even if it's going to be a small oval.
