I know we already have a boardwalk section but the only part of it that really feels like a boardwalk is the area in front of Chickie's and Pete's. The rest of it just feels out of place.

I disagree. Richochet looks like it was literally stolen from a boardwalk and Cyclone is obviously themed to a tropical storm. The only real standout is Goldrusher... other than that, it's easily the second most intricately themed area of the park behind the new County Fair.

I like the 'Lowcountry' name though, anything to spice up that huge random chunk of themeless-ness called Crossroads.

(Disclaimer...I don't think this is what's coming...so don't go off the deep end...lol)

"Copperhead Strike"

First thing that popped in my head was this:

However the work they are doing is on a much grander scale than something like that (which I guess there already is something similar already) and most likely a coaster. I had recently seen one of these on some site and it came to mind. My how far south this thread would go if that was it though after all this speculation...lol

That slide is a cobra though. The only cobras we have in the Carolinas are the ones that can fly.

Of course, none of these companies can hold a candle to Pax!

Screamscape posted an article regarding rumors of the new coaster...
Screamscape wrote:It has come to my attention that a few other sites out there are predicting that Carowinds may be planning on adding a new GCI wooden coaster to the park. To this I say... "nope". Or at least not from what I've been told... which unfortunately I can't spell the beans about just yet... but I can confirm that according to Screamscape sources the previously mentioned Project Alpha-Digital is indeed a new coaster. As in... BRAND NEW... not a plan to remodel an existing one like Hurler or Vortex.
I hope to be able to share more in the near future, so stay tuned, because the future is indeed very exciting for Carowinds.

Very exciting... I could see a coaster like Hangtime at Knott's coming for 2019.

I really do love B&M, and consider us to be very fortunate to have three standout examples of their capabilities at our home park (and a further, shall we say, historic addition as well). However I really think it's time for an offering from a different company for diversity's sake. The majority of a day at Carowinds for me is usually just riding the same three coasters over and over again so I think it'd be nice to have something a bit different in the mix.

Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but according to Screamscape we are not getting a "GCI" woodie. That does not rule out a woodie all together, just GCI.

Has there been a ground-up RMC hybrid with a launch?

A big twisted structure of steel and wood like that would be pretty striking in the skyline for sure.

In fact, that would be a good way to make our eventual RMC Hurler different from Twisted Timbers—a launch instead of a lift! Talk about killing two birds with one stone!
