That said, it's not completely unprecedented. In 2002 Six Flags Great America announced Whizzer would be removed. After massive public outcry they changed their plans and instead closed Shockwave to make room for Superman. I know it is a stretch but I am hoping this is what happens with Thunder Roa...

I believe Carowinds cleaned everything out from there before the park opened this year.
