... Be respectful. If you found pictures, then good. My bad. I remember well that during opening to mid season for opening season of Intimidator that trims were not active, because there was no drag going up the hops. Once that drag kicked in later on in the season it was a huge bummer! RollerBee, ...

Intimidator was designed with trims. Want proof? https://rcdb.com/8588.htm#p=27169 https://rcdb.com/8588.htm#p=29576 Both pictures from 2010. Now I know what you're thinking, "well those aren't from opening day so I'm right, and everyone ...

... Edit: http://insanitylurksinside.blogspot.com/2014/04/cedar-fair-parks-seat-belts-added-to.html?m=1 However I will not debate why Intimidator has trims but the sqaure wheels you mentioned does make sense because roller coaster wheels have developed flat spots before and that explains why. Also ...

... of that info as it is almost 100% inaccurate (and I'm sure someone will be pics posted to prove it). Nothing has been added to Intimidator, those trims have been there since opening day. They have absolutely nothing to do with the wheels on the train, they are there to control the speed of the ...

... OFTEN. I don't see Carowinds buying new wheels every week to keep the ride smooth. That costs money $$$ This is a reason why Intimidator has trim brakes on the hops. It helps slow down the train over the crest and on keeps the wheels on the tracks. When the train wheels come off the tracks ...

... three years, and it’s actually become a really decent wooden coaster. It’s almost as fun as Thunder Road was (and I say almost because of that trim at the beginning). It feels like the gap that was left by Thunder Road has been filled to an extent. I’d still prefer it if next year’s coaster ...

Yep, exactly. That is what I was alluding to in my post. The trim is there to help set a maximum speed going into the last part of the course. When I go on colder days, the trim has never engaged.

uscbandfan wrote:Question... isn't the trim ALWAYS on? I thought it was calibrated to a specific mph and would engage to ensure that speed was not exceeded. If the train was not over that set speed, it simply didn't engage. is that not the case?

You nailed it. That's very much the case.

Yeah, the trim wasn't on when I rode it this weekend. However, I could tell Fury was running slower than usual with the cold. No wonder it didn't trigger, our speed was slower than on a warm summer day.

Intimidator didn’t open until about an hour and a half later. Fury’s trim was turned off so the last few hills were very good to be as cold as it was (I had asked if it was on or off).
