The frozen Skyline at Publix is dead on what you would get in the restaurant. If you are wanting a cheese Coney however, you simply have to make it with regular size hot dogs/buns as the hotdogs used by Skyline are specially made for them by Kahn's and are not for sale at any grocer, even in Ohio.
As for the other Ohio staples, the frozen White Castles you see at the grocers are horrendous. Your better off going to an actual location.
Frisch's sell their Big Boy sauce at Krogers or you can purchased online. I personally have never tried to replicate a Big Boy sandwich at home with their sauce since there is no way to create the thinner hamburger patties as well as trying to locate their actual hamburger buns.

^ I fully agree. I can't speak in Skyline to much tho I have family in Cincinnati and have eaten a few times, however white castles from the store is just nasty. I could only dream for one to come to Charlotte. I absolutely hate Krystal's lol. I'd be happy with a checkers/rally's close by the park as well. No different in my opinion with Chickies and Petes, to me the park versions are medicine compared to the actual restaurants.

In the South we used to have Shoney's Big Boy, but they used a 1000 Island sauce whereas Frisch's uses their famous tartar sauce on the burgers. But now the few remaining Shoney's are no longer part of the Big Boy franchise. And the former Shoney's across from Carowinds is now a Culver's, which is good.

The nearest Frisch's to Charlotte is on I-75 in London, Kentucky and that is also the same area where the Krystals give way to White Castle.

Cherokee, NC used to have a Big Boy. We ate there once and the food was awful. I must not be the only one who thought that as it was closed the last time I drove through there. Hopefully other Big Boys have better food.

The Big Boy Restaurants in Michigan are decent and similar to the old Shoney's Big Boy with the 1000 Island sauce. But I think Frisch's Big Boy in Kentucky and Ohio is the best with the famous tartar sauce. They are looking to expand near Knoxville, Tennessee but they do not have rights for the Carolinas. If Big Boy was to return to Charlotte, it would be the national Michigan franchise with the 1000 Island sauce.

On the West coast, Bob's Big Boy has a famous landmark location in Burbank, and they use a red relish sauce with mayonnaise.
