General Carowinds discussion

That marking was for when they were putting the fence up. If you walk along the fence there are white lines where the fence goes, along with foot markers from the curb to the spot where the fence is.

King Kobra was the prototype WL & TW were the next two built afterwards.

Have patience, track for your new coaster will show up when the park is ready for it.

Looking back through the pictures of Diamondback construction, the first piece of track I can find a picture of showed up on July 22. However, they also had the splashdown poured by the end of May. Then again, they finished Diamondback almost two months before it officially opened. So if you guys are getting a B&M, I wouldn't expect track until July based on what we saw at KI for Diamondback.

Well it could really start later, considering that we don't have very cold winters down here like Ohio does. We only get snow maybe 2 times a year at most (last year was a fluke).

Carowinds always opens their new coasters on opening day, so I doubt that will change with this one.

I didn't realize that Behemoth (I think that's the coaster pictured) was a parking lot coaster too. lol

Sorry Wes, but that is Six Flags La Ronda's B&M Mega Coaster. I believe it is also named Goliath.

Of course it's 76'. Judging by the markings around it, I'd assume that it's solely for the purpose of the erecting the fence. My guess would be that the 76' marks is how far out they want to fence to go from whatever boundary they are using as a starting point. Gotta have enough room for equipment, part staging, erection, and permanent fencing once it's all done.

How can you say King Kobra was a prototype if all three of them opened on the same day in 1977? :?

Thanks Roller, like I said I wasn't sure.

The more of these things are built, the less I keep up with which is what and what is which.

Just as long as we're getting one that's all I care about. lol

Does anyone know how the official height of a coaster is measured? Is it to the top of the track rails, the passenger seating position or the tallest point on the train at the top of the lift hill?
#28887
Is it true that carowinds has height restrictions due to the airport or something like that. I remember hearing that before and if they do then how is this future coaster going to be big if the height has restrictions?
