General Carowinds discussion

It is possible but I have my doubts. However, if the new area connected Thrill Zone to Carowinds Plaza, it would make a nice short cut to the new coaster and Hurler. Isnt South Gate supposed to close forever after upgrades are made to the North Gate?

^ I dont know? I thought I remember something about it closing for good... but maybe that was a "EVENTUALLY" type thing? I can just see the complaints now if that happen.... oh lord.... I still find it funny about people complaining about the parking thing, so I told them it should be even more different then for PLATINUM PASS holders, they should get the first rows and then gold  I just dont understand why so much complaint. I sometimes would park in the normal lot, because I thought in a way it seemed shorter, not that it actually is, but I dont know, I just like the exit route from the SP lot much better. Oh well. I am now debating about Saturday since there is 80% of rain and severe thunderstorms....

B&M Giga Coaster Concept

So do you think about late May or early June for preliminary groundwork to begin? And I wonder how soon it will be for the fake teasers and clues to begin to appear? Meanwhile, get ready to be on the lookout for large steel track to begin moving down I-77 from Ohio if indeed it is a B&M. So in the mean time somebody should try to see if there is anything going on at that steel factory up there.

I'm still voting against your wing concept. The park told the Chamber that this ride would forever change the landscape from Interstate 77. I think it's going to be a launched giga extending more into the existing parking lot. I'm telling you that is what will make Carowinds a destination park for the Southeast. I'm also voting against the B&M reference and I believe it will be Intamin. Specifically their LSM launch design. I know, I know, that everyone says no to launch and B&M has been discussed. The exciting thing will be when they formally roll out the project. Until then, pure speculations even as the ground get's torn up.

I consider the demo of the track and what looked like large holes in the former track by hurler the start of demo for the construction much like the demo of the log flume and subsequent construction.

Why anyone thinks they'd announce before August so they can get the most out of SP sales is beyond me...

For questions pertaining to what may happen when, a good rule of thumb is to refer to the dates on the Intimidator gallery. Granted, they don’t have to push a mountain of dirt out of the way this time, but the fact they opened the season with the pass lot already closed is a pretty good indication that things should start happening sooner rather than later. Anyone’s guess really.

Meanwhile, back to other construction:

Well an LSM launch giga would likely be record breaking, as all other gigas are traditional lift hills. (Dragster and Kingda Ka are taller but not traditional giga style format). But some of these launch coasters tend to break down a lot, such as Cheetah Hunt at BG Tampa. But the Steel Runner at Hershey Park looks like a good, intense ride for a launch coaster. As does the Sky Rush, although not a launch. But both of those Intamin coasters would be great for a giga version at Carowinds. If it turns out to be Intamin, which I thought could be a possibility. But then there is the thought that they have a contract now with B&M for most of their recent coasters.

Granted they do break down a lot i think a launch would fit great in the area they are clearly working with taking out the gokarts and moving the renamed ripcord and with relocating the bus lot to the season pass lot clears the way for a nice lauch near 77 which would definitely change the landscape. i also saw somewhere about carowinds getting permits for something called " north gate funnel gate"...possibly doing something to update or open up the main gate, a definite plus in my opinon
