General Carowinds discussion

Well, I'm not totally mad at Paramount, they were like parents. They gave us stuff but would not give us what we wanted. Now that our new parents are giving us cool record breaking toys in an attempt to win our affection, coupled with the few needed items Paramount gave us, we might now grow up to be a well rounded park.

Incorrect, Carowinds has gotten brand new coasterwise:
1999: Afterburn
2000: Saturator
2002: Ricochet
2003: Reptar
2009: Cobra got a new train
Used, new, there is no difference to the GP.

let me get this straight...you are comparing construction of a coaster to a middle school...

Apples to oranges has a new meaning!

No..... im compating the way the land is! My farther in law works in the loging business and they get more work done in one day then carowinds has gotten done in a month! Im in not rush for things to pick up im just kinda wondering y it's taking them so long to pick up the pase and get things rolling

No, it was for another reason that I'm not going to get into, but that was an interesting and somewhat unexpected side effect. 40 people signed up in the less than 24 hours this forum was set to private.

So, what's wrong with that? People want their updates.

I saw this from the top of Afterburn

They have begun digging up the parking lot right at the South Gate

It looks to be 8ft wide x 2 ft deep x 60 yards

Do I smell a splashdown coming to Carowinds 8) . *wait, don't look at me, I don't know what I'm saying  *

I will say between 72 mph and 78 mph.

again apples to oranges...

since you have a "farther in law" I would take a gander you are an adult. Has it ever came across your mind that the park may be AHEAD of schedule so they can take it slow until the off season to pick up the pace. After all its basically all about connecting the track.

So now you are comparing building a roller coaster to what your father does? That reference makes no sense what so ever. So you are telling us that your dad's work is like building a Coaster now? OK?

Please know that the people that are constructing this ride are craftsmen that know what they are doing. I am sure this is not the first Rodeo for some of these folks. They know what to do and how to build this ride or they would not be there. As I am sure your dad is good at what he does. Please give these folks time to prepare the land so that everything fits together when the Steel comes rolling into town. And I am sure they will have the coaster up and running by opening day 2010 and not a moment sooner.

Have patience and it will all come together.

^I kind of understand Coaster Punk's concern. I also wish Carowinds would hurry up. :) However, you have to take into consideration that a school needs to be completed by this fall, but out coaster won't open until next Spring.

And though I do agree that it is strange and completely inaccurate to compare a school to a coaster construction, I think Coaster Punk just wants Carowinds to get moving so we can all see this new ride.

And I also agree that the people constructing this ride know what they're doing, but it couldn't hurt to get it up and ready early :D haha. I actually just can't wait to find out the details about this ride.

Um, I have a Dell.

And Dave is right (as usual), have patience grasshopper. These people have done this before and know what they are doing.

Frankly I think they are ahead of schedule compared to Borg, although I could be wrong, yet again. :? Jarvis, that is not your cue.

Hurry hurrt hurry...build build build...what, I STILL can't ride it until march! Why build is so fast if you guys won't let ride until march! You guys should have just taken you time building and ignore my pressure to get it built so I can just stare at it until march...

b&mcoaster1095 wrote:If they are just flattening the land for the school it won't be ready for this fall...

No it will be done by Jan of 10 but the land in witch the location is on was a swamp and it's flat and already have underground piping going on!

I guess it's just the anticipation of it all that has me "like what is taking so long to flating land" but I dont put any doubt in what the contractors are doing at Carowinds. Id rather have it take longer to build then up and throw one together and have it muffed up and something happend to the structure. My only thign that is bothing me is wy are they takin so long to flatin land. Just font get it. Yea they may be ahead of schedule but geez
