I can't wait until they announce this thing, so everyone can start picking it apart and complaining about it.

Instead of complaining about drainage!

Seriously, if you guys can't say anything better than arguing and crap then please stop posting. Remember what Bambi's mom said
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

And yes, this is directed at the newbies on the boards. Most of you guys that are vets have more sense.

Actually, I've seen the vets get downright nasty here to newbies many times.

But that's par for the course. It is like that everywhere.... here is nothing special in that regards...

That said, everyone take a chill pill, be nice to newbies, and let's enjoy that we are going to FINALLY get something really special. And yes, it might not be as tall as KD's.... who cares?.... We should enjoy that we only have to ride about 5 hours north to enjoy that bad boy too!!! And only about 1-2 hours here to enjoy our new puppy!!!

Love Love Love... Joy Joy Joy!!! Happiness comes to Carowinds and KD!!

This new coaster will dawrf all the other coasters in the park. A good layout is the most important aspect of a coaster, rather than speed and height. Look at Afterburn, its not the tallest, fastest, or longest of the inverts, but one of the best thanks to the awesome layout of the ride. 8)

We are not the outcast park anymore, so i see this new coaster being on par with DB and Behemoth. It would be great to have the tallest and fastest B&M hyper in the world, but we're finally getting that new coaster and rumored hyper we've all been crying for, so thats exciting enough! :!:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they do another Diamondback (height wise) then Carowinds will have the tallest coaster in the South.

Griffon is 205 ft
Sheikra is 200 ft
Goliath is 200 ft
Diamondback and Nitro are 230 ft.

Maybe we could have the tallest in the southeast? Is VA considered part of the SE?

According to a map I found, and I didn't dig too much, but VA is not part of the SE, which is strange to me since they are a Southern state. But others I saw also seem to confirm this http://www.huntsvillealabamausa.com/new ... heast.html

So, they could easily get tallest in the Southeast if its only 210.

In Va Richmond was capital of the confederacy, which I think nobody would argue against the confederacy WAS the South. Long ago people viewed the South as a bigger region, because they built the Naval Academy in Annapolis MD for a "Southern influence" compared to the military acad for the Army in NY. (to me MD is definitely NOT the South even though it's below the Mason Dixon line)

#1, #2 whatever, Carowinds is getting something big and new, and we'll all enjoy it. Let's get back to coaster talk not debate where to draw the map of what is the south or not

I was just trying to figure out what bragging rights Carowinds would have with this coaster, tallest in the South or Southeast.

Assuming again that the coaster will be 210 ft tall or taller. Technically I guess it would be 206 ft tall or taller, but coasters aren't usually measured that way. Sky scrapers yes, coasters no.

It probably will be labeled the tallest coaster in the South and/or the Carolina's! It would be nice to see the tallest coaster east of the Mississippi or something along that line!?

Hi all...

First came across this thread the other day when I was preparing for my trip to Carowinds yesterday and was really intrigued about the possibility of getting a new coaster. Didn't think I'd have anything to contribute to the discussion (judging from some of the posts, some of you are really on top of this), but I saw something while I was there that may be of interest.

I was sitting in front of Hooligans near the entrance of Afterburn waiting for some friends. A man came up with a tape measure, a camera, and a stack of papers. He took several measurements of a side path that went around an island of trees and kept noting the measurements on a couple of the papers. Then he started taking pictures and even asked a bystander to stand in the picture as a reference. He laid down the papers at this point and I tried to get a look at them but wasn't close enough.

Anyway, not sure if this info will add anything to your conversation but thought I'd share for whatever it is worth. :)
