General Carowinds discussion

What a Twist!
Lol.

I think it would look better and be more noticable behind Drop Tower, instead of tucked away in a crowded corner anyway.
Quite a few people I've been with didn't even know it was there, tbh.

Either way, we know it won't be where its at now.

I'd imagine they're keeping the Go-Karts, as a lift hill wouldn't really mess up the flow of the track, too badly?

I thought so too, at first - but let's say hypothetically, The lift hill would be going up, and that would leave room under it for the Go Karts to remain there. And the lift's descent to be through what would have been the arches of Xtreme Skyflyer.

That sounds plausable to me, especially if they intend on booting Juke Box Diner, and putting the station there, seems like there'd be enough room. But that's just my two cents.

The company could take a page from other parks and develop some type of an out door event such as what you would find at Sea World. I know that is a lot to ask of Cedar Fair, considering they held Sponge Bob for about 10 years because they did not invest in a replacement. With any luck, the new coaster will run through Dinosaurs Alive and make them extinct.

The Palladium didn't host Spongebob, that's was the Action Theater. Cedar Fair hasn't owned Carowinds for 10 years, and they kept Spongebob until Dinosaurs Alive arrived, but could have kept it a couple more years because they still had license from Paramount/Viacom for the Nickelodeon themeing. But eventually it would have had to been removed.

Anyway, not a chance that it'll go anywhere near Dinosaurs Alive. This new coaster will be exclusively on the North Carolina side of the park, Dinos is practically the polar opposite of the area it (may) be going (Thrill Zone).

I was using generalizations and sarcasm as a form of indictment. Translation: How could you expect a company who held on to SpongeBob in the Action Theater for 10 years to develop an innovative outdoor production for the Palladium. And instead of removing the Palladium and Sky Coaster, how about rerouteing the new coaster to take out number one worst up charge attraction in the park; Dinosaurs Alive.

Going by this picture whether it is accurate or not. I would think there is a possibility for the station to go where the Palladium now sits. Also going buy the small footprint illustrated, I doubt this is a B&M giga similar to leviathan as those use a large footprint for an out and back type coaster. I think the small footprint is much more suited for an Intamin giga.

Whew...what a bunch of crap to read thru. Since im back from running scared from some werewolves in london i have a few things to point out...

chknwing wrote:its just an underutilized structure. Some of the concerts there are free. It just seems to me that the use of the land there could generate cf more revenue if used for daily attrations instead once every few months.

a very very rough sketch what this does is put carowinds big new coasters up front when you drive in and can be seen quite well in the skyline. It will draw attention to it from I77. a huge coaster on either side of the gate. I think that works.

Honestly, carowinds doesn't care to make money off the "free" concerts. Universal Studios has the summer concert series...as well as the mardi gras concerts and guess what....they are FREE but the catch is...with paid park admission. The parks know that getting the people to the park is what matters.
chargercrazy wrote:Would you really want a 300 foot tall coaster roaring past the Palladium every 4 minutes when you were attending a concert there?

Something to think about . . .

Have you ridden 305? One of the quietest coasters on earth...and really...a concery is MUCH louder than any coaster would ever be...

Thats pretty sad. i mean im glad they are getting rid of that thing so they can stop robbing people of their money. i mean 15 bucks? cmon

I urge you to go check out the price for the one at funspot in orlando...

Hurler isn't going anywhere.
They plan to rebuild part of the initial turn, they wouldn't be doing that if they were just going to demolish it.

Carolinacoasterguy wrote:I think we are going to get a new coaster at the front gate and improvments to the front gate. Sort of like what happened up at cedar point.

The front gate is being redone, but this new coaster will be in the Thrill Zone section on the NC Side. It might reach out toward the gate, but it certainly won't be a "GateKeeper".

Well I'm fine with SkyCoaster leaving. I've ridden it a few times and it's cool and all but not that cool lol. Maybe once the new coaster is operating and revenue is created, they may put in a slingshot ride as similar attraction. I dont care. lol.

Alright here is my opinion about all of this. After all of the exciting news we have heard about Carowinds over the past few weeks, only really good things are in the future for Carowinds. While others have criticized the idea of having a 300 foot B&M in the park would be redundant, I had the chance over the summer to visit the park that has a similar situation to Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland. Both Behemoth and Leviathan were excellent coasters. While both coasters are similar in their own ways, they are also different enough that it isn't pointless to have them both in the same park. It just translates to you have two really awesome coasters in the same park. My only complaint about Leviathan, however a small one is that I wish the layout was a bit longer. A giga should be around 6,000 feet, which I don't feel like they had the space to make that happen at Canada's Wonderland. Carowinds has the space and hopefully it will be a little bit lengthier.
