Does anybody know if the red crate box is still there... or has it been removed? im hoping to go to the park July 10th... not sure though... BTW.. does anybody like the name "Storm Rage" for the new coaster... because if you think about.. IF the track is red... radars for storms are red in the center if they are strong enough.. well if this coaster packs a punch then there's your name- "Storm Rage"

It does not matter what we come up with! Im sure the name and website has already been trade marked but WE WILL FIND OUT THE NAME BEFORE MAJOR CONSTRUCTION IS STARTED I CAN BET U THAT!

When I was at the park wednesday, the red crate was still there. I am going to the park tomorrow, so we will see.

So, I went on carowinds website, and pulled up the page source (in firefox, right click, view page source). This isn't photoshopped, try doing it. The Raptor???

EDIT: Now, the source says Vortex.... :? :? :? but, it did say raptor

"Raptor" was one of the 5 coaster names trademarked by Cedar Fair for Cedar Point. Although Carowinds is a CF park, I can't see that name being used again...

Anyways, I just got back from a Cedar Point/Hersheypark trip this week and I noticed one of those concrete "boxes" buried in the ground as I was sitting on the launch track for StormRunner at HP. It could have been similar to whats on site here, or even identical, but I couldn't see much from my point of view. Now, I can't tell you for sure how they were connected or how they work but I think it had something to do with condensation dripping or leaking from the hydraulic launch track. After I got off, I watched it a few times and saw that every time it launched, it would "leak" a good bit...

But I don't know how water (if that's even what it was) and a hydraulic launch work together, so, if someone could explain it, that'd be great... :?:

By the way, evaninmatthews, that "page source" now says "Behemoth"

Um.... of course it doesn't matter what we come up with. I never figured anyone would actually be picking a new coaster name from these posts, but I still think it's interesting to hear people's ideas about the name/theme/color/design of the new coaster. I'm just trying to pass the time creatively while I and dozens (hundreds?) of other folks mope :( around here waiting for some piece of track or something to be delivered to the park.

This would be relevant to both NC & SC and would even tie in to a splashdown (if we get one, which I'm not overly thrilled about, but it's all good :D!) And hey, if it goes >73 mph, it would literally be running at hurricane speed.

Hey I'm sorta new to this thread... i've been watching it for weeks anticipating some good news but have never felt the need to reply back until now...

What about the name "ThunderStruck"? Remember the whole "They say lightning never strikes the same place twice. They were wrong!" thing a couple of months ago? Well, if infact that idea was truly what was being thought for this coaster, then the name could go great.

oh and by the way... i like the "Storm Surge" idea too :D
but what about the track color? If indeed the track spotted at the ohio plant is for us, then why would they theme a red coaster to a storm? It just doesn't seem to fit for me :?

Yes, I agree with the red color not fitting "Storm Surge." If it was going to be called that, the track needed to be a deep blue like this

Coaster Punk wrote:I like the storm name themes but what about "The eclipse" or "Thriller"

Yeah, and it could be themed to Michael Jackson type of style. And play his music and/or music videos while in line.

The Kings Island website did that last year and people thought some of the names could be for the new coaster. Well, it turns out Diamondback never was the page source... Right now it says Behemoth. Why are different names showing up as the page source?

I wonder if CoasterDynamix (or something like that) will do a model of the coaster like what was done for Diamondback?
