Once they finish this support, it will be interesting to see if they don't put in part of the return track before the next BIG support. If the virtual photos are correct, there is a diagonal cross-brace that the return track will have to be threaded through if they dont add it now.

Mike Fehnel updated his Twitter with a picture from the base of the drop. I'm at the college and for some reason I can't share it. Some one else share the picture here.

I went by the park today. Spent a few minutes in the drop off lot. Please don't close it off during the off season. It's amazing what is transpiring at our park. The webcams show great details, however, being in the area shows just the magnitude of the projects. The size of Fury 325 is massive and to think the lift hill is only about 65% completed. I also love the drop. As it is taking shape it is also becoming more terrifying. The angle at 81 degrees is awesome. The pictures Mosley and Mike F have posted just touch the fingertips of the potential speed this coaster is going to have. I cannot wait.
As for the main gate construction. WOW! Another massive project. The area is going to be so open. New and returning guests are going to be in awe. Can't wait to see the progressions.
We are all very lucky to have this going on in our home park. Enthusiast are going to flock to Carowinds next season like never before. Thank you CF for showing us this love and attention.

Half a support and 2 pieces of track installed. Image
(best if you open the pic in a new tab)

It was interesting because i was looking at the pictures of construction of the Intimidator and noticed that they were complete with the lift hill on the date 10/17. Does this mean that Fury is behind on construction ? Or because the bottom of the hill being built compensates for the lift?

Intimidator's lift hill is 93 feet shorter than Fury's and did not require the drop to be built before the lift could be topped out. I wouldn't say that Fury is behind schedule, just that a different approach is being taken to build it rather than the way Intimidator was built.

I'm sure it's been talked about before, I highly doubt we are behind schedule here. You have to remember, there is a LOT going on at Carowinds. And they are working hard every day and making great progress not only on the coaster but front gate as well. Also, I remember upon finishing the brake run that they were a few days ahead. Most of Fury's track is low down and longer flat pieces, not large hills. Once the lift and drop is finished, I would think we will see construction move even faster.

I don't know if it compensates for it or not.

My thinking is that the "time consuming" part of construction is the station. Getting the all the electrical, mechanical, line queues, control panel, etc etc etc done takes a lot of time. That's a lot of detail type of work, and it takes a lot of time. If you've ever been on a constuction site, you'd notice that the structure seems to go very quickly. It "looks" like construction goes very fast as the structure goes up. But then getting all the little fixtures, walls, paint done "seems" like it takes forever before it gets totally finished. It's just the nature of building things.

My hope is that since the station was done first, they have all winter to be working on that, and weather will have very little effect for doing all that detail work.

The big, obvious building of the rest of the track, after the lift hill is done, can move pretty quickly. And once the lift hill is done, we'll all be impressed with how quickly the rest of it goes. Kind of like how we didn't even notice the section of the track behind the trees... and boom... there were 6 supports and 2 sections of track almost in the blink of an eye.

edit-- I love that we can now see the shape of the circle at the main gate entrance taking shape. It gives some reference for how it'll look.
