General Carowinds discussion
#66405
The reason for the delay is probably due to the foggy conditions. I checked the weather forecast for Thursday and it will be mostly cloudy but not much fog. It looks like they will attempt on Thu to crown the ride which will work perfect for my schedule to come down from VA to cover it for my region.

If you were passing through Bassett or Martinsville, I'd ask to ride along. However, that is out of your way when coming from Charlotsville.
Meanwhile, the webcam looks very nice today. You could cut the fog with a knife.

From the wording on the release of the media advisory (it wasn't a press release) it didn't seem like it was public information so I didn't share it here.

Not only do 'loose lips lose wars,' they also can cause parks to get very selective on who they send info to. I find it very ironic that everywhere is crawling with 'amusement park media' (aka enthusiasts) when a new roller coaster is being built. Where were those people when the park sent out invites for a great festival they started this year - 'Carowinds in Bloom' - clearly one of the better events that hinted towards the direction they are headed.

I fully agree Arby! I just shared that the topping off was delayed with nothing further posted and I got swamped with tons of emails and messages last night asking why answer I cannot comment any further I'm just publizing what I was informed of.

The only thing that truly matters is visiting parks and experiencing the rides... all the rest (including most forum posts) is mostly hot air.

How about as a tribute to Max, Carowinds hangs a flag on the top of Fury 325 that just says MAX. They can fly it for the next week and then plant the Christmas tree. He was a great advocate for the park and many of us. Just a suggestion.

Truth. While I'm a credit whore, I go just for the experience.

Looks like they've gone ahead and completed the handrails on the crest piece. For all of the other lift pieces, they've done the catwalk after it was up and in place. My guess is that when they set it in place, they want it to look complete (and not have to wait several hours for crews to put in the handrails.)

I was thinking the handrails might have been in the way of the lifting straps on the other pieces. But on this piece there is a naked section to attach them. Hey, makes sense to me. It just seems that if they could have put them all on while it was on the ground, they would have.

I just received confirmation from the park that the topping off is scheduled for between 9am - 1pm tomorrow. I will be at the park taking part in this. Who's excited?

How do you get to watch it at the park? is the park having an event or are you just watching it from the drop off lot?

Hopefully this will happen. It's supposed to be foggy tomorrow too.
