General Carowinds discussion

I am very excited. I definitely hope that some one or a crew is video documenting this entire project (other than the contributors of photos on this forum to which I say thank you very much :) ) This is a little off topic, but I have just finished designing a 3D model of the coaster station, well, what I hope for it to look like. I will post pictures when I finish the queue and surrounding landscape. I will tell you now, that is is HEAVILY roman themed. Especially the architecture.
I wonder if the same contractors who designed the new toll plaza will be designing the station? It's possible, but Cedar Fair asked them to not post pictures or renderings on their site for sake of the "surprise". And in the photos above, I think that they are pouring footers as well as the foundation for the station. Just my guess.

I did a video update the day the first teaser came out, i'll continue to do more as the construction continues. If anyone knows who to talk to about off season construction (allowed by carowinds) i'd be happy to go document more.

Seriously, it feels like just yesterday we didn't know ANYTHING, and then BOOM.... concrete  I was considering moving, but seriously probably going to stay in Charlotte a couple more years, and this (along with the baseball stadium uptown) and other things are making me excited. Carowinds is going to be AWESOME next year!

Speaking of webcams - I rarely can get Carowinds Website cams to work, nothing loads......They have worked before...

And if this giga is indeed 325 or higher, how long do you guys think it will hold the record height for a giga before another is built higher?

I check the webcam almost once a day hoping to see they have it back online and pointing towards the construction site.
Perhaps they will have it back up once the Skytower is running again.

In other news I saw on Twitter (do not have the source) that at the coaster camp out at Cedar Point that some people were awaken by a howling noise and a ware wolf running around the park around 2am. Could this be CP teasing for the name Rougarou? They have alraedy stated that they will be getting a thrill ride next year. Not that anyone thought the name here would really be Rougarou anyway, but that would able us to eliminate it from the three recent trademarks.

Wasn't CP going to get getting a dark ride like that new one in Canada? Im guessing that could be the name for it then.

*sigh*. Okay:

1. Carowinds New Coaster: 300+ feet
Gatekeeper: 170 feet

Carowinds New Coaster: 30 million
Gatekeeper: 28 million.

So a ride over 130 feet higher only costs 2 million more? I don't think so.

2. A wing rider traveling at over 95 mph would put too much stress on the train.

3. The blueprints look nothing like a wing rider, with a very similar layout to Leviathan.

Its not a wing rider. Its a B&M giga.
