Anybody know what kind of lateral and angle control the cranes have over the load? Can they rotate (spin the track left or right)? To pick it up, swing it over, then get the lateral direction correct requires either crane controls or ropes from the ground, which seems difficult to do. And can they do any vertical angle adjustment at all? I know they have to get it really close when rigging on the ground.

The use rigging to get the mating ends angle just right. from what I've seen, they usually use a come along for adjustments in the rigging. as for spinning, that is all controlled by the guide ropes and hands when it gets close.

I counted around 92 track sections that need to be erected, though not all of them are here yet. I didn't count the supports, but there's still a lot that needs to be shipped down here.

From Carowind's Facebook page:

"For today's Fury325 Friday, film crews walk the lift hill of this world record breaking thrill ride as they film for a Travel Channel episode airing next summer."

I was thinking and it dawned on me that the highest point on Fury will be 325 feet, while the lowest (under the bridge) will be somewhere around 335-350 ish, depending on how deep it is, which is hard to judge from the cam and animated conception video.

Would that mean Fury has the longest difference between the highest and lowest point on a roller coaster in the world?

Totally the mom in me, but all these pics from cars of Fury are making me very worried about everyone's safety on the road. If you're a passenger, it's all good, but if you're driving, please don't put yourself and other people in danger just to get a photo for us to geek out over.

On another note, I love seeing the yellow on the under side of the track when it banks. It just looks so cool! So much better than if they'd chosen one color for all the track. Fury is a beauty!

I think the color scheme was a great move. The banking really stands out like no other coaster ever has before.

Well... :( I personally would, but I suppose in terms of "traditional roller coasters" Fury would have that record as well.

It's kind of a bummer having that "traditional" caveat on most of the records, but Fury is still going to be awesome.

Yep... and Kingda Ka has a 418 foot drop... and the Orlando "The Skyscraper" will be something less than 570 feet tall...

Once the grass grows under fury it will look so pretty. I hope it grows nicely because I remember the first 2 years or so intimadator had bald patches of dirt where it should have been grass.
