RollerBee wrote:Explain Ricochet then, 13-15 blocks but can only run 10 cars. To my memory, they can run 10 but normally only run 8...
Intimidator has three brake runs for a total of 5 blocks but only runs three trains.
Thunderhead has two brake runs, but only runs 2 trains....

I know why the hill is there, but B&M could have designed the track to go under the lift then to the wingover. My sources say the hill was designed to use up speed to prepare for the wingover and to parady Maverick "buzzing the tower".

I'm not sure what your first point has to do with anything. The extra blocks at the end of rides are so that if a train is held in the station for any reason the trains on the course can complete the ride and wait at the end. A mid-course block allows a train to clear the lift earlier than it would if it had to wait for the other train to finish the entire circuit, thereby increasing the theoretical capacity of the ride.

If Top Gun went under the lift it would then be right on top of the pathway. The amount of speed "used up" by that hill that would not be used up by a straight section of track or a drop under the lift is likely completely insignificant.

Another thing that you have to remember about Afterburn is that the top of airtime hills on inverted coasters have to be pretty wide as to not pinch anyones legs from the bottom half of the train squeezing together.
And the extra blocks are there so the train can stack safely behind the station instead of getting stopped on the MCBR all the time, its just there to keep things flowing better.

Really interesting statements today. Already wanting to change the ride before its built?

I, for one, have been watching the videos, watching the cam when I can and when I see that "downward ramp" it reminds me of driving my "76 Cobra back from Badin. There were 2 sections of road that had good sized hills but no valleys. The feel of gradually picking up speed and the suddenly going up and over was awesome. Much better to me then bunny hills.

Haven't been on here in a long while! I made a trip up to the park today and got a few quick pictures, I had to go see the ride in person just couldn't wait until next week.

Go away...and take your logical thinking with you!

Anyway...back to the trims they will be adding to that straight section...

The bridge is looking great! Thanks, Carowinds, for making the bridge more ADA friendly. That shot gives a good view of the profile of Fury.

EDIT: On a weather related note, the cold doesn't seem to have affected anything this morning.

I can't wait to see the finished bridge, the old one has fun riding an electric wheelchair over. Especially at the end of the day, when the battery was dead, I managed to make it back to my truck and load it before it went completely dead.

Wow that steel must be hard to work with in this weather. Then again, they probably wear gloves anyway so it may not matter too much. (Just don't touch your tongue to the track!!)

Those early morning shadows really give a sense of how much that area between the walkways has been dug out.

Now lets see that camel-back go up today.
