General Carowinds discussion

you must be near the park to see the transfer track. on teh webcam i cant see that far to the left.
would be nice to see a full operation test.

now when they are running 3 trains when do they release the second train and move the third train in to the station.
never seen more than two trains at one time.
i know medusa at sixflags in california has 3 trains but they only ran two when i was there.

Ideally you would see one train on the course, one train on the lift, and one train in the station. This may not be the case for Carowinds as I can see them easily stacking 2 trains due to the proximity of the "mid"-course to the final brake. I would imagine that here when they are using 3 trains, we can look forward to seeing one on the lift, one on the final brakes and one in the station. And depending on how fast the dispatch and the readiness of the general public we could see all 3 trains stacked...

I didn't think you were supposed to pull a train in the station until a train clears the lift. Watching the cam I noticed they pulled the waiting train right in when the one ahead of it got on the lift. I was thinking they implemented that rule after the mouse rolled back into the station and crashed into the waiting train?

I dont recall that being a "rule" either. Every coaster that I have rode (at carowinds) always pulls a train in right after the other departs the station, or until it clears the 'block'. Its amazing to see intimidator running already... Wonder when train 3 will be put on the tracks. Seems to run really well, has anyone seen any post of the actual speed that it hits? Looks like it flys through the course with absolutely no problems. Well 43 more days.... :D

Uhhhh...what? Behemoth, Diamondback, and every other B&M coaster in existence will pull into the station as soon as the train ahead exits. You know there's these fascinating little things called 'anti-rollbacks'...

I was thinking it became an issue some years back when the Wild Mouse rolled back into the station killing the girl and her mother. Maybe the rule was specific to a certain area or coaster type? Perhaps someone was just speculating a new rule to prevent such accidents from happening again? Can a coaster be reversed off the lift and brought back into the station or is it always forward moving?

There is no "rule" anywhere. I don't know what you mean by rule, anyway. Park rule? State law? Federal law?

What you are saying makes no sense anyway. Okay, let's say that the train has to wait on the brake run until the one ahead of it clears the lift. Okay great, so now the train rolling backwards down the lift just rolls through the station and crashes into the other train on the brake run.

Anti-rollbacks were invented for a reason. They are incredibly simple devices that work, except for in incredibly freak accidents such as the Gillian's Pier one you referred to. Also, for what it's worth, in the accident you are referring to, the victims were killed because they were ejected from the car as it rounded the turn at the bottom of the lift at high speed, and not because it ran into the other car.

thanks on the information about running 3 trains. i was thinking one on the brake run, one on the course, and one in the station. when the one in the station departs they would run the one on the brake run up.
that therory would mean that the crew would have to be on there toes to get the train out of the station so you did not see a train have to be stopped on the mid course break run. with that thought could they stop the train there and would that be part of there testing?
