General Carowinds discussion

:crazy: Do you guys think this ride will have trims?
#102629
I really hope we don't have trims. I just want this to be a good world class coaster with very little to no major complaints from the public. Am I the only one who started to take it a little personal when people started saying "InTRIMidator" for (what was) the best ride at my home park? It was never a major concern of mine when it kept ranking in the top 10 but I just have a huge amount of pride in my home park, CAROWINDS.

Yes. NO one should take this HOBBY to heart that deep.

Well, i'm gonna go ahead and break it to you now. People are gonna complain about this coaster regardless of what they announce. It should not affect you in any capacity.
Look at it like water on a duck's back.

But a lot of people do, and thats what great about this community. They love their park, and they will always love it. Thats why most of us are here.

I said to heart that deep . . .

When it gets to the point that you are getting physically upset over someone else opinion about a coaster having trims then it's time to back up and take a deep breath.

You can love carowinds, you can love going there every day but when this hobby turns into a light version of a fatal attraction then it becomes a problem.

But this is getting off topic so back to the topic at hand.

Oh gotcha, yeah we should get back onto the topic.

I dont know why there would be trims on this coaster. Coasters with this low of speed, really shouldnt have any.

We have the speed and time, from that we can get the rate of acceleration (pending if we launch from 0mph).

2.5s=18.78/x^2

So, the rate of acceleration would be 6.83 m/s which is a launch pulling about .25 G's.

Now, with that being said, to calculate the distance traveled we do this.
x=1/2(6.83m/s)(2.5s)2

That comes to about 21m which converts to aprox 70ft launch so yep, the launches combined would probably not be over 200ft.

Sorry this is a few days late, but I do not want anyone to be misinformed.

Acceleration is the change in velocity over time so a=delta_v/t

A=18.78 m/s / 2.5 s = 7.5 m/s^2

Gravity is 9.81 m/s^2

G-force = a/gravity ==> 7.5/9.81=.76

This is assuming constant acelleration, which is almost never the case in real life. So we are looking at a launch of about 1 or more G's. A launch of .25 G's is miserably slow.

Ah, I see what I did wrong, I converted my m/s to f/s AND I cannot figure, for the life of me, how I came up with the 6 number but the equation is right . . .but still that thing wont push an average/constant of not even 1G. If Top Thrill dragster has an average 56 m/s and this one has 19m/s, I can't see how this can be over 1G? They are no xcelerator by any means. Even Hulk pulls only 1G and it's pretty forceful.
