I have been wondering if Thunder Road might come down to allow for 2016 water park expansion into the south parking lot. I hope that doesn't happen, TR is a good wooden coaster and is my kids favorite ride.

Thunder Road is probably the 3rd or 4th most popular ride in the park, it isn't going anywhere.

There was reportedly a secret announcement of some sort at the Winter Warm Up. Perhaps it was regarding 2016 plans or something to do with Thunder Road.

The only "secret announcement" at Winter Warm Up was from SFOG and it won't be secret for too much longer.

It's already been leaked and everyone knows what it is. Come on February!

There's an access road or something under Thunder Road. They just need to expand underneath it.

^^Just like at King's Dominion. Which is also why I think that the South Parking area is not getting a touch up. (also because it wouldn't fit in the budget. Asphalt is very expensive).

Today I had a dentist appointment about 10 minutes away from Carowinds, so I decided to get my first glimpse at Fury. All I can say is if you haven't seen it yet, imagine it a LOT taller than what you'd think. Even from the opposite side of the park the drop off lot it towers over everything else and looks wonderful.

Doesn't look like any track construction today, just bolt torqueing and track painting... the two red cranes are being disassembled, the bath building metal roof is almost completed, and we have track in the parking lot ready to go.

On the way back to Harmony Hall, John and I talked about Thunder Road a bit, but I'll wait til August for that.

The reason why I said I'll wait til August is because there will be ideas thrown around of what to do. Definitely not repainting. It's too much time and money.
But back to Fury. Steve said that the last piece of track may be in by this Wednesday or Thursday. (mike said it's due to arrive on Tuesday).

It's a little disappointing to hear it won't be painted. Assuming RMC isn't being called in, then I can't imagine what they plan to do about Thunder Road, honestly. I just hope it doesn't involve demolition -now that would absolutely break my heart. (not that I think they would actually knock it down).

I am confused, what circle? Plus the state line has shifted to and fo over the last 40 years. Is it really this interesting or important that the state line marked?

Um... Yes! The whole theme of the park is supposed to be the Carolinas (granted that theme has been a bit absent for a while; hopefully its coming back!). The state line is also the iconic part of Carowind's old plaza, and I'm glad they are going to be preserving it. All you see is people standing with one foot in SC, the other in NC and taking pics. Why deprive future generations from the same amazing experience? At least, those are my views on it. lol.
