General Carowinds discussion

Never been on a hyper but from the looks of intimidator its going to be a smooth ride....

A lot of rides were testing today lke afterburn, intimidator, drop tower, and hurler. I guess training is fully underway and testing as well. How long do all the rides have to test before they can be opened?

I went by today and got my pass processed, no wait at all in and out in like 5 mins. They were testing pretty much everything, but intimidator was not testing when i went. I was hoping to see it run, but i will have to wait 2 more weeks.

I am very greatful that they did early processing, I was not looking forward to waiting in the line opening day. Thankyou Carowinds!

Great video, it really shows the sound of the coaster (absolutely amazing.) Its realy going to turn some little kids heads this summer being so close to the kiddy park. The best part is that when I take my daughters I can get some good videos and pictures! :D

Seems like it was running a little sluggish compared to the video of the first test run. If that is how it will run normally, I can't wait to feel the air time on this one. :D

Pointed out on Facebook by bgwfreak and someone I don't know, different wheels. Originally they had the faster but louder wheel types on, and now the quieter but slower ones. What they go with opening day, who knows. It should be a bit faster with people on it, as well.

I mentioned something about the wheels a while back whenever everyone was freaking out about how fast the first test run was.

And I was guessing myself, I was too busy filming or taking pics to really take the time to look for different types of wheels. I don't know if you could tell the difference at that speed anyway.

But at least on Superman:UF @SFOG you can definitely tell the difference in the silencer wheels and the regular faster wheels. One is a creamy white color, the other kind of a brownish color.

Perhaps they were testing "worst case scenarios" with the silencer wheels and / or trims set hard to see how far they can go before causing a valley. I don't really recall hearing the trims "fire", though.

I certainly thought it looked sluggish on Saturday, but I'm not concerned yet. TG sometimes looks slow during testing but flies with people on it and warmer temperatures. Intimidator has certainly shown more speed in the past under similar conditions.

Perhaps one of our KI friends can shed some insight from Diamondback testing - did it ever look really slow, or even valley during testing? I've seen the first-run video for DB and it looked pretty similar to Intimidator's speed-wise, and pretty close to how the ride looked when open.
