Im not trying to be mean but why would anyone on this site even entertain that notion knowing intimidator is 70 ft taller and goes much faster than 65mph. Im sure the council members can care less how fast it goes and for how long. If anyone read the entire article they have more of a "what's in it for me" attitude...

Also by reading the whole thing you get a feeling for the actual tone of the presentation, the folk they were dealing with, and the vagueness of the guy doing the presentation. He was trying really hard not to present his hand. If he wanted to do so, if he actually knew, he would have given the actual specs for the planned ride.

I think at this point the only undeniable evidence is "a tall as hell coaster"...it could be intamin, B&M...even another company! They mention millennium force and Intimidator 305 as well as wonderland. I think he was just giving examples of they style coaster not a "this is what they are building"

Heres the quote...
Mr. Cooksey said the Millennium Force is at Cedar Point. It’s been operating since 2000 at 310 feet. The Steel Driven is in Japan, the Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion and then Leviathan in Canada. So this would be the third gigacoaster in the United States, the five in the world.

steel driven hahahahaha

understood, but the guy was flat out asked about the safety and he told city council the ride would max out at 65mph which is well under the speed of other coasters he mentioned. I dont think in that situation he has the leeway to fabricate that kind of information to city council.

That and:
Councilmember: So no liability for the City if one goes flying off that and they land on North Carolina side as opposed to South Carolina?
City Attorney: … no liability for us.

I've been snickering over that one all day.

Way to go jonathan for releasing the plans all early...and wormster...I almost wanna give them a. Rash course on coasters and the accidents that have happen. They seemed really ignorant to the subject...especially the lady who thinks 300ft tall coasters are not safe. But overall I think I need to look at building hotel on the nc side...the council seems to be jaded that most people stay at the ones right at the park entrance...on the sc side.

You couldn't have been more than 4 years old when that movie came out, no?

I don't know if they could legally do that, but I just can't get that thought out of my mind.

That it a good point, considering everything we have gathered does not make one bit of since pieced together. Maybe they put that out there just so they could play with our heads and laugh at us as they read this forum

Now after concluding this, I personally I don't think this will be a giga or a wing coaster, but something new, something we never even thought of.

I wonder what the next generation coaster would be like. Almost every possibility has been tried other than hanging our feet by the train, and going upside down.

Politicians ignorant to the subject...there's a surprise! LOL
