General Carowinds discussion

^ It is. They just don't know the behind the scenes part of these rides. I'm glad they don't because if they did, everybody would be called coaster enthusiasths and we wouldn't have the advantage over them. Now, I think they're going to turn off the webcams. If something does happen to go wrong, they wouldn't want the ride to get a bad reputation before the ride even opens.

You guys have me hoping that something does go wrong in early testing (and webcams remain on).

That equals shorter lines for me!

When they cams go offline, I might just have to wander on down to see what is going on in person that day.

I think you guy think that the cams will go offline like HW when that's probably not going to happen with Carowinds.

Much like how people think opening day will be like Banshee's when in reality, it will be like Intimidator's.

For all we know they did it the night before so it would be right for the announced first test run. I don't see that hard to believe as they would most likely want to avoid a major PR nightmare should it not go as planned. At least under the cover of night it wouldn't have been seen on the webcam they used then. With the current webcam however they would have to pause it/cut feed for us not to notice...if they indeed try to do it in secret before announcing the first run. It's just like when they tested the last piece of track to make sure it would fit before the media even the following day (even tho we were able to see that at least).

They'll also have to be testing all the evac systems too, so i'm sure that would freak a people out seeing it stopped on the lift

I don't think the train could really valley. I know it's possible, but the ride, even when cold, could keep it's pace pretty well because most of the layout is low to the ground anyways. Um... Just a quick question. Isn't the opening day more than 31 days away? Is the countdown wrong?

Technically it's 32 days from now. The countdown is including hours from opening.

Intimidator sat on the bottom third of the lift a good 15 minutes while they checked everything over for its inaugural run, and only tested once that afternoon around 4:30. B&M already had several hypers under their belt, and were confident enough to just let it roll. A few of us on here were there, and I only remember one TV camera - it was all pretty much last minute. Anybody’s guess as to how they’ll handle this one.

It's possible and has happened to other rides when testing for the first time. Even when Intimidator first tested the thing was moving a bit slow over the hills. Probably less likely with Fury since most of it is lower to the ground. The camelback before the helix is probably the only potential spot. I think it's more of a concern with wooden coasters.
