Jonathan wrote:I kind of hope it is. That seems like it would be a pretty fun element in the hyper trains. Kind of like an immelman but it pulls out of it a bit earlier before going upside down.

I think it would be awesome. Now the question is, would you rather dive in and up or end up diving down and back? Either direction would be cool to me. Now off to bed for me.

^ it would be more feasible entering it like an immelman. The traditional dive loop is more curved...

When designing that element I was hoping that walter and the team would try to incorporate that in their hyper line up. It doesn't invert anymore than their hammerheads and gives good floater air on the way out...

I really do wonder if this coaster have special elements. While SFoG's Goliath does have a kinda different hammerhead B&M hasn't really try to be "creative" in their layout designs. Here's hoping diamondback was the start of a less static coaster layout...

I think this was mentioned as speculation before, but def. now. From Thrill Network this morning (8/17/2009)

DOSWELL, VA – On August 20, 2009, Kings Dominion will hold a press conference to announce the largest capital investment in the park’s 35-year history. The event will take place at the Grand Bandstand on International Street at 11:00am.

Guests on hand for the announcement include Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, Regional Vice President of Cedar Fair Richard Zimmerman, General Manager of KD Pat Jones and most interestingly, Jeff Steiner and Taylor Earnhardt of Dale Earnhardt Inc.

As there is a major NASCAR track in Richmond, VA, there is speculation that this will be a NASCAR-themed roller coaster.

...so I assume all the peeps that were rooting for the NASCAR are happy now, as for the rest of us...meh :|

BTW: Thanks for the info Brooke!

Okay, someone was bugging me about track/support angle *cough* the jet *cough* coaster *cough*

So I got a picture from Whitesoxsfan21 and rotate it 2 times to make the track tie and support attachment tie both horizontal. One picture I had to rotate 111 degrees for support attachment tie, and 94 degrees for track tie.

111 minus 94 is 17. So it's safe to say this... if support tie is parallel to the ground then the track tie will be 17 degrees away from parallel from the ground, aka track's steep angle will be 17 degrees away from vertical. 90 degrees minus 17 is 73 degrees.

I got 73 degrees out of this. BUT KEEP IN MIND... this track piece may be for pullout of the drop, since Diamondback's steepest track doesn't have any support attached to it. ALSO I won't count out human error, I tried my best to make this my best guess. So let give or take 2-3 degrees to my guess so maybe around 70-75 for this piece, so the first drop overall, still may be more than 75 degrees... we would have to wait and see.

Anyway here are the pictures...

^ A good effort! Although I think your tolerance is off a bit. When you take into account human error, the fact that the pictures are not taken parallel to the viewer, and that you are using Microsoft Picture Manager to make the measurements I think you are looking at more like a tolerance of 10 maybe 15 degrees. So in that respect the angle will be somewhere between 58 and 88 degrees...which doesn’t really mean much. Although, very interesting and much more grounded than some of the stuff offered up on here! Good job! :D

Are you sure about 10-15 degrees tolerance? I just tried again and make it 10 degrees off of my guess, and it is way off align within horizontal. 3 degrees is when I started to see the alignment being off.

Who knows? I don’t think anyone can tell with any certainty; but for the heck of it I hope that you are right. Then come December-February when they have the drop completed and it is 73° then you can refer back to your work and say that you told us all months ago.

So now that it is a given that our coaster will be Nascar/Earnhardt when do you think we will receive the trailer park theming. Maybe they will include Dora into the mix have "Pregnant Dora's trip to the gas station to buy cowboy killers adventure train ride?" Who knows :?: The possibilities are endless now....

Cool I had designed an element just like that on a B&M Hyper but on mine the coaster went over the top and dove down to the ground. The Element your layout has is the Element I've been hearing Intamin is going to be using as a Worlds First non inverting Immelman, maybe on KDs Giga Coaster.

That would be cool though if B&M did step out of their perfect little box and create an entirely new element for their hyper models B/c right now their floater hills, hammerheads and helices are played out Imo.

I'm hoping that Carowinds Hyper has some tunnels(even if Race themed) maybe a double down or triple down, overbanked bunny hop or Stengal dive type element, oh well I guess well see in 9 days :D
