I just think having the first drop over the palladium would be kind of unattractive and tacky. A flyover throughout some other point in the course, but not the first drop.

I honestly hope that this ride isn't a "Wing Giga" for couple of good reasons...

1) The force and stress that would be on the wings/arms.
2) Think of the force that would be on a rider. Because of the design of the train, moving at a higher speed it'll cause a lot of blackouts. In my opinion.

I am also skeptical of the ability of a wing coaster (at least based on the current vehicle design) to go to 300+ foot heights because it seems to me that some pretty long pullouts that would be required at the bottom of drops, but suffice to say if they do indeed build one, that means they've worked that out and it isn't an issue.

Your second point doesn't really make any sense. What does the train design have to do with blackouts? The effect of 'blacking out' is caused by sustained high G forces. It's not really an opinion thing; it's governed by the laws of science. The two B&M wing coasters I've been on were actually two of the more forceless B&Ms I've ridden.

L-O-L to all this "giga wing" coaster talk. The only way that would work would be if they did it like Dollywood did with their "hyper wing" and build a 300' lift and have the first drop come down on top of a mountain. If you hadn't noticed, their is no mountain at Carowinds.

I think we are looking at a normal giga coaster (in height, drop and length) either by Intamin or B&M. ;-)

Everyone keeps talking about a wing coaster at Carowinds. But I'm pretty sure during an interview with Matt Ouimet about Gatekeeper he said that Cedar Fair had no plans to add wing coasters to other parks. But this could have been a lie for all we know.

I agree, I rode Gatekeeper last year and was a bit disappointed. The layout is great but it's not worth the migraine you receive when you get off the ride. The ride was really bumpy and hardly ever smooth.

I think people are speculating about a wing coaster for two reasons:

1) They keep getting hung up on a vague quote about Carowinds being "ready for record breakers" and have taken this to assume that it means world record, then make the leap to assume world's largest wing coaster, when in reality the only records this ride will probably break is Intimidator's records for tallest, longest, and fastest in the southeast.
2) People are having a hard time accepting the fact that the park would install another B&M speed coaster even though its sister park already did the exact same thing and it's a pretty natural conclusion that they are implementing the same plan at Carowinds.
