What kind of restraint does it have?

Absolutely none! It will tilt forward and backwards only between 7-12 degrees and the seats will have vibrations but that's about it.

The "other side"? I was always under the impression that there was only one side... even back to Days of Thunder. Maybe I'm just getting old.

When it opened, there were two sides playing Days of Thunder. They were identical but flipped, so that the screens were back to back.

There was two sides, the one on the left(facing towards the building) was used until 2012 as a ride. The one on the right was striped of the motion bases prior to 2006 to my knowledge and used as storage/SCarowinds purposes. Days of Thunder used to play on both sides, when SpongeBob opened only the left side got the upgrades. In 2002, both sides were operational.
Smash Factory, Meteor Attack(correct name?), Funhouse Express, Hanna-Barbera, Superstition and Some Temple themed movie all played on the right side from 2000ish to 2006ish. I would have to dig out my park maps to be 100% correct.

Cool. I only remember Days of Thunder on the left side and I remember the left side when I took my daughter to spongebob it was left so I probably just blanked it out.

With your comments, seems like I remember queue lines and exit doors for the other side now. Again, I think it's age. lol

Is there a height requirement for this ride? I have a 40 inch 3 year old and I was wondering if he would be able to ride with the rest of the family. I looked at the park map online and it says to check the signage at the attraction.

Unfortunately it may be one at 46 inches minimum being you have you straddle the seat. Now, in the past there have been areas where you can be stationary when it comes to the attractions in the theater but I don't think he will be able to experience it in the capacity its advertised at.

i cant wait till this 3d theater ride i rode one in gatlinburg similiar to it $5 and the kids loved it,i hope even small kids are allowed on this attraction under 40 inches too thats what they looking forward too.
