General Carowinds discussion

That does make a lot of sense. Honestly, I think we should have more in park coasters, that are good. All of the best coasters are around the park so when first timers see the park they're like "woah those huge really good coasters!" then they get inside and they're like "Oh, they left the good stuff on the outside but the inside is just full of average coasters." Or at least that's how I think. It's like the chocolate candy bar looks really good but you bite into it and it isn't so good anymore. I know the good outweighs the bad, but there needs to be more of a balance in coaster placement/location, IMO. Am I making any sense?

It is crazy to think that this is the first truly in-park coaster in a decade. Given that Intimidator and Fury both were built in what used to be parking lots.

Our GCI with a traditional lift is going to be a solid addition.

Sure is! In the 20’s if even then..

To add on top of that, this will be the first custom designed coaster to be built in the park since 2001 which was Flying Super Saturator. If we go back farther to the last custom-made coaster currently operating that was built entirely within existing park limits, it would be Vortex.

[EDIT] Nvm, it would be Afterburn. I didn't count it because it appeared to use the parking lot, but it appears otherwise.

Carowinds truly is an attack of the clones  The only coasters currently at the park that were designed for the park are Fury, Intimidator, Afterburn, Vortex, Carolina Cyclone, and Carolina Goldrusher. Not exactly “Cedar Point of the South” material.

Since certain people are ALLEGEDLY hinting at Vekoma and there's also been some buzz about potential underground portions, this proposed layout for a new model of launched coaster set to debut in China in 2019 stood out to me:

The manufacturer at this point IMO is a toss up but considering the Copperhead is notorious for being a pit viper, I’d be surprised if this didn’t feature at least one underground tunnel.

Damn, you right  It could always be worse though. We could be Canada’s Wonderland with like 700 clones and only 3 or 4 custom coasters. Then again, they do have all those crazy flats

Speaking of crazy flats... wouldn't it be nice if Crossroads got this, the flyers, and a new, thrilling flat ride to really transform that entire area?

Canada's Wonderland has been experimenting with weird flats for years, it would be nice if they would start to trickle down to the rest of the chain already...

Who has been hinting at Vekoma specifically lol

I would absolutely love getting one of the new Vekomas, Lech Coaster has been getting some stellar reviews and they layouts look like something I would make in NL instead of a realistic coaster.

And you could add Cyclone to the list of clones, though it was the first one to use that layout. Depends on how you want to count it.
