I dont know why everyone is worrying about their supports arriving just because KD got theres. I think the reason KD got theres so early is because it is Intamin and everything is being made overseas, they have a history of delivering their stuff waaay early. Since carowinds is getting a B&M the track and supports are being made in ohio and there is no need to have them on site until footers have been poured or they have to make space at the plant

It takes no time to put up a steel coaster once the footers are in. Top Gun construction was stopped after Dec 17th for the Christmas break with only the lift and first drop partially done (see 2nd photo below). Construction started back on Jan. 10th and they were testing the ride on Feb. 20th. Project 2010, being a bigger ride, will probably follow a similar schedule, just a guess. I watched them test Top Gun for days and they opened on time for media day. Jonathan, hope you don't mind me throwing a couple TG construction photos in here. I've had several emails wanting the TG construction photos so I may start a separate thread in celebration of it's 10th full season.

I never actually "said it'. but I *Know* they are getting one.

The majority of the steel erection (*snicker*) only takes a few months, but its all the mechanics and utilities which will feel like it will take forever. Like I said before, coaster track/support parts should be rolling in within 2 or 3 weeks (about the time the first footers are set). but you won't see any vertical construction for a little while after that. Im guessing the first couple weeks in August with an announcement on "a Tuesday or Thursday"

Diamondback was announced on a Wednesday, so it could be a Wednesday. Also, once the footers are poured, they have to wait about 30 days to start putting up the supports because the concrete has to set.

The area in the back of the park, behind cyclone, is more employee parking. The pieces when they arrive will be staged in the area beside thunderroad and afterburn. the same area that cobra was staged in.

Southgate is still used, though only on saturdays, and holidays right now.

Cedar Fair sure seems to like red for some reason. :? I don't want another red coaster. Vortex is already that color. I want something different. Silver track with black supports would be cool in my opinion.

I think if the track is red I don't think it will have black supports - probably yellow or a greyish color but that's just my guess. If it's the red track at the B&M plant it's a much brighter red than the dark red of Vortex so would work fine in my opinion.
