On the site survey that was found online, there's a tunnel on the drawing around about where the overpass is near the front gate (isn't there an elevated walkway there?) . If the ride truly will go ALL the way over there, and then through a small tunnel, this is going to be a HUGE coaster.

Also really interesting to me is how it's going to interact with the Paladium... will it go around it (the long way) or will they place a few supports in the seats and run it right over?

I dont think it will be necessary for the ride to run through the palladium

I went and looked at a satellite image, you're right, it can easily go in front of the Palladium.

Might be more interesting though if they step it over Rip Roarin' Rapids!

They wouldn't have to remove trees, just put the supports here and there and step over the trees.

The tunnel isn't a left over one because it's not there right now, but it's drawn on the survey.

I don't believe they'll tear the palladium down, largely because of what it would cost vs. the money it still brings in... they probably have some groups that they sell 'day at Carowinds' packages to that use the palladium as part of that for it's stage...

Finally I also don't think they'll run the coaster under the bridge, because then it would remove the functionality of the road that runs under the bridge.

Since you've just joined I'll just let you know that way back some pages in this thread we came across the actual blueprints to the rerouting of the front entrance and the portion of the new ride thats going in that area. The bridge is going away and the ticket booths are going back towards the big turnaround on Carowinds Boulevard.... the tunnel is going to be right where the road is now. I will get the link if I can find it...

that is the plans with an outline showing the track based loosely on the footers...found it on page 78 in this thread

I've been lurking but I never saw that. Thank you, that clears it up.

The 'bridge' I was talking about was the foot one inside the park, I was just saying I don't think they'll run it under there (and won't according to these blueprints).

I'm not a huge coaster buff so I'll just ask some of you more seasoned riders, doesn't that layout look kind of boring? I realize it's only half of it, but there's not much going on.

Well I'm hoping that what we can see (which is just SC from these blueprints) is only a small portion of this coaster.

It looks likes the ride will either dive into the tunnel and then execute the worlds first giga inversion, or its gonna pop out of there and do Shambhala's figure eight element, then fly back towards NC.

I just hope that much more of the ride has taken place before this portion we can see. I really want this ride to be unique and frankly better than Leviathan...

I also personally believe that whoever is getting the "Fury 325" ride (let's hope it is us) is going to benefit greatly from having 325 in the name
.....simply because as others have previously stated, this will be the tallest traditional coaster in the world, and placing its record number in the name will draw the crowds.....they will EASILY be able to market this coaster by doing that.
#56382
I'll look up that Figure 8 and see what that's like I've heard it mentioned before but I'm not familiar with it.

Why is it hard to do an inversion on a Giga? Is it the speed, or does a Giga coaster have a special type of train that makes it harder to pull that off? I'm pretty ignorant to this stuff so it would seem to me that once the ride gets down the first hill they could do whatever.

Here's my thoughts on the name. I'm just thinking about this from a business standpoint. Cedar Fair COULD BE trying to label the tallest ride at each park that way. I guess it depends on long term what they're going to do.. but for instance, Intimidator 305 could remain the tallest ride at that park for another 7 or 8 years and the number would kind of show off that it's the tallest.

If Carowinds gets Fury 325, that could remain that way for a decade or whatever, then if it's topped they could drop the 325 and call it "Fury"... then the new ride would be "Wildwing 340" or whatever.

So my point is, maybe they're going to put a new, tallest coaster at each park, and that coaster will have a number describing the height. The nuance being, they dont' intend to name each coaster that way, just the tallest in each park.

All speculation of course just think it's interesting how they do this from a business standpoint. I think they're doing a fantastic job at all their parks of getting new guests coming.

Its gonna get publicity either way though. And the General Public probably doesn't know, or truthfully, care that 325 Ft. is a record breaking height (only on "that type" of coaster). Plus, how is the General Public supposed to know that the 325 tacked onto the end is even for the height? Yeah, duh, it should be common sense to most people... But I've heard random people in the park say that Intimidator is the tallest coaster in America, before!! And I don't see it as a temporary thing, as some have suggested, if they ever simply removed the "325" down-the-line, who's to say there wouldn't have already been another coaster built by CF (or someone else) named just Fury??

Anyway, I just 1) frankly don't like this trend of numbers at the end of names, and 2) genuinely hope they don't call Carowind's landmark giga something like "Fury 235" because I believe its pointless and takes away from the class of giving it a cool, original, name that people all over the world would identify it with. (Without *potentially* getting it confused with a smaller version simply called "Fury")

BUT... At the end of the day, does it truly matter in the grand scheme of the universe. No. No, it does not. Not one bit.

We're getting a little ahead of ourselves though, we don't even know if this is the ride's name yet or not. Personally, I greatly prefer Centurion.
