General Carowinds discussion

^^^^^Carowinds is an amusement park, it is not a theme park. The Busch parks are theme parks because they are themed to Africa and Europe. Universal and Disney are both themed around movies and TV shows. Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks don't have one common theme in their parks, but they have areas loosely themed to the rides. Cedar Fair and Six Flags focus on the amusement and not so much the theme.

And famousamos...you had the same amount of time as rcoster had...the fact that you rushed yours and he took his time to make this awesome sauce of a coaster is no excuse on your behalf...so don't make any haha.

I have no excuses :D haha, But if you say so, then I won't argue. All I was saying is that we both used the same blueprints and came up with similar results, making me think that a lot of us are thinking that this is what the giga will look like. That's why I'm excited.

Based on what? Personal opinion?? There is no ranking among the parks that I know of...not like I matter.

I disagree. I think Carowinds is definitely a "theme park", just one that's in the process of recovering from years of being dressed up like an Amusement park by Paramount.

Cedar Fair is working on bringing the Carolina themeing back. Carolina Cobra, Intimidator, Harmony Hall, and so on. All are directly themed to some part of the Carolinas in one way or another. And they are also additions added since Cedar Fair took over.

There is a ranking, in fact one that Cedar Fair themselves have mentioned several times. And according to the WSOC TV report from when the $50M expansion was announced, Carowinds is expected to make a leap forward to the #4 position in revenue and attendance for Cedar Fair.

Carowinds was more of a theme park under Paramount than it is under Cedar Fair. Windseeker is a generic name, and Cobra's only theming is the signs. Anaconda has more theming. Carowinds even calls themselves an amusement park.

Under Paramount, yeah, there was heavy themeing in regards to movies and other Viacom properties. But that was incidental.

When I say theme I mean the "essence of the Carolinas". Like the Intimidator linking to racing, a popular Southern passtime, the Cobra being branded as Carolinian, etc. I'm talking the theme of the park overall. But at the end of the day, its just a park... Not worth debating really.

Trust me...Carowinds is an amusement park and I have to agree with roller on this one. It may have rides NAMED after things of the Carolina. The only "themed" area is planet snoopy and that's not really saying much. I look at parks like Knotts, Tivoli Gardens, Chimelong ocean park and (while im on the fence with this one) dollywood as theme parks. If Paramount did anything they themed carowinds up! Wayne s world with Stan Mikitas, the pig van and the signature phrase roller coaster, BORG assimilator with its BORG sphere crashing into the middle of the coaster with shards and mist all around it and the pretty well themed nick central. They were the ones that left the park with the redone art deco Hollywood style buildings in the front. When I walk into carowinds I dont think I stepped into another world like I do when I step into parks like Busch Gardens (take your pick) or islands of adventure. Aside from Planet Snoopy and I would even venture to say the carolina board walk, there is no real themed elements in the park.

I wouldn't consider that a ranking that anyone, outside the people who pockets it benefit, should be thrilled about. Yeah, it does influence what parks get what but a lot of other factors influence that as well.

Thank you...now back to the $30 mil 300' tall coaster in 2015 (to be announced Aug. 21)...

If this is indeed a roman themed coaster (which I really hope its not  ) I will show up on opening day wearing a toga...

Just throwing this out there even though I'm sure it has been before, here are the last two marketing campaigns things from Carowinds go like,
White Lightning leak = Intimidator
Wright Brothers tease = Windseeker

So that probably means that

Centurion leak/tease = Fury325, or some other name like that

unfortunately. :(
