General Carowinds discussion

Unless they have some sort of way to rust the track inside the building. A coaster of this magnitude should be a surprise and CF may not want people to see the track at the plant. I don't really know. But what if they are going to construct all of the pieces at once, and then take it all outside at the same time to rust then bring all of the sections back inside at the same time and be painted. But I don't know for sure. That's a 9 hour drive for me, so I won't be going to the plant anytime soon.

Wait? The track NEEDS TO RUST? You say that as if rusting is a good thing.

Oh, and I have a couple of thoughts:

Since this will be the 5th giga in the world and it is indeed 325 feet or higher, how long do you think it will be before another giga is built and will it exceed this when/if it's built? To me, if another giga is built in the future and it does exceed this one, when you're talking about heights like this, I don't think it matters much.

A cool! I get it now. I had never seen this before. It's funny how they say that the process is enough to withstand 10 years of nature's elements, almost as if the life of a coaster is 10 years.

Oh really? Is this assumed because other track with LC was a flying coaster or is it something you know from someone who works at a plant that produces the track? This article from '09 states they changed the bar codes and that nothing is identifiable, so I don't know. I wouldn't doubt the track is going to Chine, I just have no clue.. Since this discussion has gone into how its made... http://forums.coastercrewnetwork.com/sh ... hp?tid=605

The article mentions "one of the steel plants that makes track is in Ohio." Obviously there has to be more, I just have no clue where. Anyways... we can get back on topic

The labels on the track used to include the actual customer name, but now it just says x-works... and this is the original blog with the pictures :) http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2008/ ... esent.html

The other plant is in Italy.
