Seeing as how the water dummies weigh the train down probably a couple thousand pounds, yes, you can.

As for nylon, I forget why they do that though I know I read an explanation. I know B&M do it and I think Intamin but not sure if everyone does.

Chris wrote:Where did the whole wheel theory come from? I'm not doubting it, just intrigued. Same questions as above? Why switch the wheels? Also, do they really switch the wheels after testing? That seems like it defeats the whole purpose? I assume it's different wheels for different temperatures, but I don't know.

Cameron said that he heard it on a radio station from a carowinds rep.

You are correct about temperature thing. They switch the wheels depending on outside temperature and weather, I have SEEN nylon wheels being used with people on, althrough rare. In more harsh weather, it is suggested to use polypropylene.

Unless they are just temporary..?

Yeah I think they are temporary, same for light above the tunnel

I really hope they turn all of the lights off near the bottom of the drop (including the two to the left of the lift hill), to create a mysterious, dark, and possibly "chilly" drop.

Mike says hi everyone. He pulled up and spoke with me and two other from the group, kind of surprised us! He did make sure we were aware that the polyeurothane wheels are on all 3 trains . So I'm thinking it's a weight issue with the slower train and the polyurethane wheels are still needing to be broken in.

Mike is pretty much the best General Manager of all time. He also plants trees. :D

[Edit] Michael Fehnel is his full name.

The wheels will vary from time to time. During the testing phase they will use the hardest wheels possible to insure enough speed to finish the course. The downside to this is that when it warms up and starts to break in, then the trains tends to go faster than intended and it needs to be slowed down. Thus the addition of the softer wheels. The softer wheels slow it down enough to keep the speed in check so that they don't wear out the trim brakes by having them in constant use.

They use the same tactic on Intimidator. If you'll notice some of the wheels are yellow and some are white. There is a science behind trims and wheels to get the perfect balance of excitement within tolerances.

Funny thing was I tweeted Mike and Carowinds saying " @mikefehnel @CarowindsPark Any testing going on anytime soon for Fury 325?! Looking for some action from the drop off lot. " Carowinds replied with " @CarowindsPark: @AnthonyDjAm I think we can help you out with some of that this week!
But about 3 minutes later we saw testing, 20 minutes after that Mike showed up. AWESOME DAY.!!
