Off topic: I really want NC to get a new plate design its been like 40 years with this same plate design lol. Every other state changes their plates like every 10-20 years. They are like the only state that uses the old school stamped out plates and all the other states have nice graphic plates. I understand trying to hold on to the Wright Bros. plane theory but come on it can be up dated lol. Ok I'm done with my ranting lol

So who would've thought that the state line would change directions in the Carowinds Plaza entrance....

Actually, they may not have even known EXACTLY until just a few years ago. There was a study that went on a couple years back that figured out where the true state line is to settle disputes and such. It ended up creating some as well because someone who was living in one state suddenly had a state line running through their property and thus needed to pay taxes to each. All kind of things came of that. Then again, there was a geo marker on the property somewhere and it could have been right where that line bends. If you ever looked in the South Carolina state code, it says stuff like "following existing monuments to a stake in a meadow; thence, in a direction due west, a distance of sixty-two miles, to a point where it intersects the Charleston Road (at sixty-one miles) near the Waxhaw Creek". No wonder they had to verify everything.

Ok. I guess we're really off topic now. Back to Fury.

A line that is straight on a flat map is curved on a globe. Also due to the earth's rotation, the planet is less than spherical. Flatter at the poles and bulged at the equator.

Random Discovery Channel Knowledge, they interview a surveyor who said that no state line is exactly how it is shown on a map.

True, but the curvature of a line due to the curvature of the earth wouldn't be noticeable in that short of a distance. It is a true angled bend at that point.
