I think this will be the first year since 2008 that I won't go to Carowinds. (It's also the first year that I haven't gotten a season pass) The reasoning is just that I'm only in NC for about 2 weeks and have been doing other stuff, and I've gone to several other parks during my summer travels, so I'm just going to wait until next year. However, I still got kind of sad when I realized I haven't missed a year in so long. Maybe I will go. But probably not.

I just spoke with Chris Foshee. He said nothing will be moved in the current County Fair area. So we get to keep everything including the bumper cars. All new rides will be placed in the area where Cobra is and that area will be called County Fair. Didn't ask what the existing County Fair will be called. He said it was kinda hard to convey this info on the website.

Edit: He also said the new rides will have lighting packages and there will be improvements with landscaping. He said they know there is a need for more shade.

That's good to hear. It doesn't have a fair feel anymore, so I'm hoping in a couple years they'll just paint and add a touch of atmosphere and do something with that ugly entrance arch.

Do season passes usually go on sale around Christmas time? I want to buy one for next year (also before I become an associate, I was told I could), that way I can get the dining plan and save money next season.

I think he's going to purchase the season pass while he is not an employee. Then he's going to reapply. That's how I took it.

So it seems the powers that may be have "heard" us and have basically made good on almost everything that was "wrong" with carowinds, right. A bigger and better water park, almost doubling the flat ride collection, a world class coaster and winterfest. I wonder what more they could possibly do? Its been said that the entire park is going to be transformed from the top to the bottom and I guess they were not playing.
