No offense . . . but how old are you? Reason for me asking is, its generally the younger, less experience coaster folks who kinda think like that. Or perhaps im missing the sarcasm?? Is vortex the best thing ever? Nope but I can tell you this . . . if SFoG can see the benefit of keeping Ninja around i'm sure carowinds can see it too.

Old enough to have been around when Carowinds was only open for a few years. Ive never been a fan of Vortex. I dont mind that its standup, the layout is just completely boring, changing it to a floorless wont fix that at all. Seems like a wasteful investment imo unless they add some other element to it.

Oh, ok. I guess we will see how the GP warms up to Vortex west. They seem to share similar layout styles.

The kids that ride it like it a lot shockingly. Many of them get right back on when the station is not full. But that makes it harder for us to get them on the train. You push them down, they come right back up. For those of us who operate it, we can't wait for it to be converted.

When I was 18 I would get right back in line for it as well. Now that I'm almost 40, I only ride it once per vacation when I visit my hometown. I rode it once last year and before that I rode it once in 2008...that's more than enough a decade as is...lol. While the ride is fairly short and has only 2 inversions, I believe a floorless conversion will still improve the ride greatly...and I might get back in line a time or 2 each visit.

They're not marketing it to you, tho, chicken. There are enough people that don't find it boring that would justify the floor less conversion.

What colors would look nice for it though? I'm thinking some kind of purple for the track.

EDIT: how about some kind of paint like on Banshee that looks like two different colors? I've always found it interesting how that paint looks at sunrise and sunset.

I'm a fan of the blue and grey color scheme. Maybe a bit brighter to stand out from the other blue coasters in the park. You could have a great Panthers theme with those colors.

Just got back from a road trip to KI (first time) and CP (third time), and it was good to compare how those places are vs. Carowinds.

KI felt very comparable to Carowinds, overall. It's biggest deficiency? No giga like Fury! Banshee became my new favorite invert. Not as intense as Afterburn, but it's more graceful and has more room to play. Firehawk was just as annoying as Nighthawk, but thank the lord for the two-train station. Diamondback was pretty much on par with Intimidator, but the splashdown adds a little something. And I would kill for a woodie as fun and iconic as The Beast. My dream coaster for Carowinds would be something like Mystic Timbers. Give us a nice terrain woodie that takes advantage of the woods back behind Cyclone.

CP is just the best. Maverick is the perfect coaster. Fun, fun, fun. I think it hangs on to my #1 spot. But this was the first time I had ridden Millenium Force since I've ridden Fury., so I was anxious to see how it holds up. Fury wins. MF just lacks the fun twistyness at the bottom that Fury excels at. Raptor has gotten super rough. Afterburn is just more intense and exhilarating. As for Rougarou, yes, it's an improvement. Significantly more comfortable. Still wasn't a huge fan. But I'd take it for Vortex.

And I'm on the side of the argument that Carowinds does not need a stratacoaster. Dragster is a blast. I love it to death. But it's such a singularly odd experience. Honestly, it's more like an elaborate flat than a coaster. And the damn thing is down half the time.

We can't be friends.

Haha...not really complaining. I still love it. Probably my #4 at CP. And the new paint job is super sharp.

Was it confirmed yet that Timmy will be getting a fresh coat this off season?

Not to my knowledge. But I am curious to know as well. Intimidator's paint costs between $130 and $250 (can't remember which). It would be nice to see. However, it wouldn't be the only ride getting new paint (not including Cobra). When they buy paint, they buy it in bulk to save money. So that means that multiple rides could get painted. Like Afterburn and Ricochet two years ago... dang it's already been two years.
