pproteinc wrote:So appearently there was a scuffle today around 7pm upon me running to my car and back. Looks to be a group of teens and one of them was lying on the ground holding his side. I was told he was shot yet I didn't hear any gun fire so I don't know how true it is. He was bleeding bad tho.

SCarowinds haven't started yet....

Lovely, :sarcasm:

Teenagers, the less of them the park attracts the better.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to require ID of adults and minors to drop off a minor.....

Yea the crowd was a bit rough today. I've seen many teens of all backgrounds line hopping which of course caused others in line to confront the situation and holding up rides to be removed from them and such. It was a bit much this evening.

What the hell?!

Tarheel that report from the CBS Raleigh affiliate was sourced from WBTV. The Charlotte news stations have more details of this regretable incident, including video. See WBTV, WSOC, or WCNC. But this is at least the 2nd time this year there have been news reports of rowdy crowds at Carowinds. Perhaps time to reconsider the metal detectors?

Agreed. I wish they'd paint it like they did the one at Kings Island and then bring back the color changing lights that went up each side.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. - Police are looking for whoever shot a teenage boy Monday night in a parking lot at Carowinds theme park.

Deputies said a 14-year-old was shot twice in the abdomen by a man who drove up and fired several shots at him in the parking lot of the amusement park.

The call for shots fired went out just after 7 p.m. on the South Carolina side of the park that straddles the state line.

Deputies said the victim, a 14-year-old boy, was shot twice in the abdomen.

Paramedics said the teen suffered serious injuries, but there has been no update on his condition.

"We are assisting both Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the York County Sheriff’s Office in this active investigation" Carowinds officials said.

Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident and deputies said they don't think the incident was random.

"We view this as an isolated incident," York County Sheriff's Office spokesman Trent Faris said. "I can tell you we believe it stemmed from an earlier argument that happened inside the park."

He said the shooting happened as the park was closing.

"By the time we arrived, it was fairly calm," Faris said.

Deputies said an eyewitness at a gas station just outside the park on Carowinds Boulevard heard someone in the suspect's car talking about going to the park and assaulting the victim.

A short time later, the shooting happened.

No arrest have been made, but Channel 9 discovered Tuesday morning that a search warrant was issued for a possible suspect.

Police were looking for a blue Dodge Magnum, and the search warrant revealed that CMPD found that car with a paper tag in the parking lot at Waterford Square Apartments on Pineville-Matthews Road in south Charlotte.

The vehicle has been towed to the York County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses told police that a man with dread locks got out of the car and fired several shots at the victim.

The report noted that two girls were fighting near the victim when he was shot, but it didn't indicate whether the argument played a role in the shooting.

Responding deputies found the teenage victim sitting in the grass when they arrived.

The park was closed Tuesday and is now operating on weekends only under its regular fall schedule.

Good grief.

That's great news that he's been discharged from the hospital already.

From that news story, it sounds like there was some argument in the park. The guy leaves the park, and talks about kicking the butt of a child at a gas station. And then obviously he decided that wasn't enough, he was going to to try to kill him. So, he comes back and shoots a 14 year old child twice? Have I got that correct?

Please find that psychopath, cops.

Glad they found him and have charged him with attempted murder. There are other ways to behave, when are people going to stop resorting to violence? It's a fun place, keep your hate and anger away from my happy place!
