General Carowinds discussion

All of the tunnels weren't removed. We still have the Goldrusher tunnel. (I wish they had enclosed it into darkness in the late 80s like was discussed)

Fury and Afterburn I don't consider tunnels but just bridges.

I REALLY missed the TR tunnel. I hope any new woodie has some REAL tunnels involved. They don't have to be a quarter mile long and end up on a parking lot island like Hades (although that would be COOL), but lets have something. Surely we can find a way to beat the wasps.

"Surely we can find a way to beat the wasps"

Yes, see Lightning Rod @ Dollywood

“The ‘roof’ structure at the top is an experiment to keep the bees from building a nest and swarming on the track at the top. The park was told that the bees were swarming because of the mechanical stuff up there and an entomologist told them that building something higher in an effort to attract the bees to build up higher instead of on the track.”

IDK...maybe if we do get a new GCI or RMC, the tunnels can be configured to have a pitched roof or something. (aesthetics be damned)

I really enjoyed ERT on Fury last year. I was hoping it would continue.

Edit: Carowinds just tweeted that Bring a Friend and ERT dates will be posted at a later date.

I recall one strip on the lower end of the lift hill and a few others on the beehive facing as the train leaves the station. To be fair, I have not been on a full circuit night ride since 2015 so I can't speak for the green LED tunnel lights, are they still working as intended?
Funny, I always assumed LED's had an impressive lifespan and maybe its a circuit issue, but they absolutely shouldn't be burning out after just 1 or 2 seasons.

Last season the green LED tunnel lights were working properly.

LEDs do have an impressive lifespan although not all LED lights are created equal. I have bought a lot of LED lights in the past few years. The quality ones that I pay more for are still working without issues (NOT made in China). The cheaper ones I bought in an attempt to save money (made in China): over half of those have stopped working. I'm guessing that the contractor that installed the lift hill lighting might have tried to save a few bucks when they bought the lights.

On closing day 2016 I noticed all of the lights on the lift and station were on, including the formally missing sections. Odd that they would do it during the season and right at the end, but they work now.

It surprised me that they didn't fix them (lights on Fury's lift) early in the season, instead of them being out all season.

I'm guessing it was probably easier to fix Fury's lights after the park closed during the week near the end of the season. The maintenance department has limited access to the rides during the 7-day regular season operation.

How's the application process from sending in an application to starting work? I applied recently and am just wondering since it's hopefully going to be my first job. :D

I wouldn't expect any response in at least another week. January 11th is when they open the employment center again. But they are renovating the offices (according to one of the HR managers). So I'm not sure if they'll be open then or not. I'm still waiting for an email.
