General Carowinds discussion

I am guessing the reason for the white LEDs is that from what I have seen, they are less expensive than the colored LED lights. I am not saying that Carowinds 'cheaped out' on the lights, with the quantity they bought, it is more cost effective and works in their budget better.

I am just happy we have a lot more lights than we used to. I hope that trend continues!

:wtf: OK, may I have a rough destination as to what a destination park is? Does it mean wanting to spend several days?

If Carowinds is supposed to be turning into one of the parks where you want to spend several days at, then it's already a destination park to me. (Lol). I live a couple of hours away, but it's just that it can be hard to get down to CLT sometimes.

In my opinion what Carowinds is good with is that if they add a new ride (Ex- Fury 325, County Fair) They clean up the surrounding area as well and add some theme. If they do these to a few more areas in the park then it's for sure a Destination Park. If you are planning on doing things out of Carowinds as well then Carowinds is already a Destination Park because of other attractions in CLT. With the possible Hotel, PS Expansion and Vortex Conversion then Carowinds is going to grow to a mature and multi-day park.

Ok. Well i'm not sure if I can call it a destination park just now with lack of a table service restaurant, more indoor shows or it's own traditional hotel accommodations (to name a few). Right now, if I want something other than park food I would have to leave the park, and if I wanted to go back to my to relax room I would have to leave the property. With places like Cedar Point and Knoebels you don't have to leave once you get there as they offer everything right on property. Hopefully Carowinds is taking that route.

^I would agree to an extent. Cedar Point, you don't want to leave to a off property Hotel because It takes 20 Minutes just to reach main land. Knobels is a park deisgned so you never have to leave. Carowinds isn't however designed to be a Destination Park since it is by everything you could need; Hotels, Resturants, Nightlife, Shopping. However with the POSSIBLE Hotel and Shopping expansion I Think carowinds will be one step closer to a Destination Park. But I do feel Carowinds has a decent show amount. The Circus show I have never been to but I have heard great reviews.

Because I know they have 6 or something around there so what's the point of taking the time to list them if we are all here to talk about Carowinds so therefore most of us should know the show amount...

They have 6 or so indoor shows? Because that's what I said in my post. And no so much indoor shows but more so indoor places that can take at least 30 minutes of my time. Or perhaps my perception of a destination park has been polluted by disney and universal parks . . .

So I went to Carowinds today and was waiting for Cobra when it broke down in front of me. The last time I went to Carowinds the same situation occurred but the day before, and the train was left where it was the day I went.

gabed: You were correct about the constant breakdown.

fonzlinney: You were correct about the mechanism/chain not catching the train. It appeared that the mechanism/chain was delayed and when it decided to go up, the train wouldn't hold and made some awful noises and went downhill. I looked where the train would be caught by the emergency brakes and when the train was caught by them, there were sparks and the fresh smell of fire (Yes I know this will happen with emergency brakes).

Since this keeps happening, I wonder if Carowinds maintenance crew can do something about this to make it stop happening.

The funny thing was that I was talking to my friend about the last time it did this before this incident occurred.

I was wondering what that loud noise was. I had heard it in that general direction and it was loud, so I knew something was wrong somewhere. I was at Slingshot when I heard it.

I can recall the last time I rode cobra how I felt when that chain would catch right up under my feet felt like it was coming through the floor of the car I was in.
