Good article. Really confirms the direction the company as a whole is going in and says a lot about what we can expect over the next few years.

"Sometimes, we have to come back 20 years later and scrap it and start over. We keep the track profile, because it’s a really good track profile, but we make it a new experience. And then we get a second bite at the apple in terms of marketing, because we can put it back out there and say it’s a whole new experience. Same coaster, but new experience."

Interesting comment there Rob... ;-)

It most certainly applies to Rougarou, but it's a hell of a tease too. Even Rob making that comment at all gets me excited for the future of Cedar Fair's parks because it means they are thinking outside the box and all bets are off when it comes to new attractions.

Yeah, we definitely can't use any past trends of Cedar Fair parks to predict the future based on that interview, except, of course, the likelihood of more parks getting Trio-tech rides as well as more parks getting similar experiences to PvZ.

I think they're very much looking at how they can either transform or better what they have at all
Parks going forward before having to get rid of stuff. Thusfar it has worked.

I am sorry I am too busy worrying if my legs are going to hold up to be bored on Vortex. Wait did I make a nice statement about Vortex.....

Vortex is not boring . . .

In that case, Cyclone is boring, Ricochet is boring, Reptar is boring . . . Coasters are relative. Overall, vortex is not a boring coaster. I do believe sit down trains will revitalize vortex and will be a welcome addition to the coaster.

Not to mention that the ride plaza and surrounding area could receive a new facelift to go along with it.
But keep the trees at least.

I personally find it boring relative to the other coasters in the park. Cyclone has a fun drop with two forceful loops and corkscrews. Ricochet and Flying Ace are both family coasters.

Vortex meanders around the course, occasionally bangs your head, and feels much slower than it actually is. Its one saving grace is the drop off the turnaround. After that, it's yawn-city.

I'd rather see it replaced with family rides, but I don't know what's best for the park. If this is it, then so be it. I'll be riding the other attractions that the park is installing that should be much more enjoyable.

I don't think every coaster at Carowinds needs to be a first-tier ride. Our first-tier lineup (Afterburn, Fury, Intimidator, Nighthawk) is already pretty strong, even though we could use a few more high-thrill coasters to complete that part of the lineup.

It's the second-tier lineup (Cobra, Cyclone, Hurler, Vortex) that needs a lot of improvement, because this tier is pretty weak at the moment, and improving these coasters would definitely appeal more to the family demographic. Cobra and Cyclone have limited potential as far as improvement goes, so if it were me, I'd focus my attention on improving Hurler and Vortex. While Vortex wouldn't be a world-class coaster if converted, it would definitely improve our lineup.
