May be time to start a "Carowinds Hurler's Future" topic now that we are certain something is up at KD's.

I was browsing the "2018 Speculation" topic in the "All things not Carowinds" section and personally, I agree with the most of you that Hurler will not be as we know it, within the next 4 years. I am excited to see what's in store for the KD ride.

Although I am typically a preservationist when it comes to woodies, Hurler is simply an embarrassment in todays world of woodies. I remember the days when it was received fairly well during ACE Con 18 in 1995. Even the ECC and RCCGB gave it high points for the rides multiple floaters during their visits in the late 90's. You could easily marathon on it. (I did 45 rides in a row one weekday in 1995). So, Bless it's Little Heart! It did have a life at one time.

I would be OK with a conversion of some sort. The Hurler location would be the perfect spot for an all new woody or a conversion. Take it out in the adjacent woods. Make it exciting, add a tunnel or three. Whatever happens, it really, really, needs a left turn or two.

Didn't Mike drop a hint at one of the coaster club gatherings that we will be repaid for the the demolition of Thunder Rd? Something along those lines....Seems I read it hear maybe. That to me means "another woodie". Exciting times ahead! :D

If KD's project isn't an RMC Conversion I'll be totally shocked. That being said, I actually kind of hope that our Hurler project will be a total demolition with a totally new GCI model in its place. KD has a few 'oldschool' woodies to be able to justify an RMC conversion of their Hurler, whereas we have basically nothing else in terms of a full size woodie and if our Hurler were to be RMC'd, we wouldn't have anything.

My thoughts exactly. I like RMC but we need a true (decent) woodie before we go that route.

I feel Carowinds hurler and Kings dominions hurler are on the same platform as Carowinds thunder road and Kings dominions rebel yell. Two totally different coaster conditions.

Whatever happens to Hurler or a new coaster. We really need a LONGER ride. Hurler is WAY too short.

Not saying that we need a BEAST, (and I don't really like the idea of having a lift in the middle of the ride) but lets have something that lasts awhile. Maybe have a brake-run in the middle that doesn't do any braking but serves only as a block so that the length of the coaster wont hurt the capacity. Through the woods sounds AWESOME if Carowinds could get the property. Imagine through the woods at night in close proximity to trees on some tight corners... nice. :D

RMC Hurler honestly doesn't sound amazing... I mean i understand it will be the most likely 3rd best ride in that park (Behind Fury and Intimidator) or maybe its just because i'm from out of town and living in Ohio, RMC Hurler is too small, just demolish it and build a new RMC or GCI

^Have you ridden Storm Chaser and/or Twisted Twins? I haven't but I have heard shockingly positive reviews. If RMC were to make Hurler taller than that could possibly give Hurler the airtime it used to have without changing the rest of the layout.

Add in the rest of RMC's bag of tricks and possibly a new one or two.....
I wouldn't discount any wooden coaster RMC touches until they have one without positive reviews.

I don't want our Hurler to get RMC'ed but I think we should let KD's Hurler pan out before we get too into our Hurler's future.
