General Carowinds discussion

Haven’t posted on here in forever. Lol. Got a question though:

Anybody know what kind of drone restrictions there are at the park if any along with the airport nearby? I have a DJI Mavic Pro and was hoping to get some aerial shots of the construction to post on here. If I can’t then it’s no big deal.

Ive gotten the shaping to match the heartline and supports for most of the ride, but I can only seem to get the heartline to match up on the top hat if it is an inverted top hat. Thoughts?

They have done one before so its not out of the realm of possibility. In fact Mack has never really done a regular style top hat where you turn 90 degrees going up and down. Its just that the supports shown look a little weak for one.

Actually now that I study the blueprint more closely, the heartline does appear to invert going into the top hat. Again, the validity of these blueprints is up for debate, but from the looks of it, this does appear to be an inverted top hat.

Logical thought and that is where my head went first, but the heartline appears either directly above or below the center of track, as well as the track itself being drawn without banking on it.

Compare the track on top of the top hat to the straight track coming off of the launch and then to any of the turns, looking at the cross ties on the track makes it look top down. As well as that the track would be drawn thinner if it were on its side. I just cant get the downwards portion to line up and not pull excessive Gs.

Edit: That timing lol
Edit 2: Its beautiful.

It isn’t the airport that you should be concerned with, Carowinds is outside the 5 miles radius. Carowinds owns a helipad so you have to call them and notify them you are going to fly in addition to notifying the Steel Creek helipad.

Of course Carowinds will likely either say no outright or like Canada’s Wonderland has done with amusement insiders on YouTube give you restrictions.

I have a DJI Spark.

Since they have anointed Carowinds as being the Cedar Point of the south, their coaster installations here have been record breaking. Not regional, not US, but international record breakers. So I'm really interest to see what they have in mind for us next.

I'm also wondering if the reason construction started so early is because part of the coaster will extend beyond the walled area into the park where it will interact with other things already in place? Perhaps this phase will be done much later after daily operations end. One thing for sure, that leaked layout don't fit within the fenced area.

There are a few spots outside of the wall where some markings all, there is on in the waterpartk near the surfer swellll Not sure if it would be a support for the ride or if its for something else.... I think construction started so soo because of the amount of work they had to do to backfill etc from white waterfalls. I also think its going to be more than just the coaster with the expansion of the old county fair area with a path that will extend from ouside the waterpark back over to beside dodgem somewhere, where it will go out and back over to I dont know, just a thought, could be mega wrong, but the old bath house is still standing, so if it doesn't get demo'd I would think it would be remodeled to a bathroom. Not sure if all this would happen or not though, no real signs of anything like this, other than a ton of pavers under fury, which may not even be enough to make a whole new area and just be for an entry plaza etc.... I hope they do connect the paths from near the water park back over beside dodgem though, I think that would be a nice addition, maybe we will get lucky and get a flat or 2, besides flying eagles, I doubt all this would happen next year though...
