Yeah, that's definitely hard to believe, and I would take it with a grain of salt because it's no more than an unsubstantiated rumor, but I've learned to never doubt anything in this industry. I always think back to when Great America went as far as to put up signs and banners for Hypersonic XLC, then suddenly they removed all of them and announced the ride for Kings Dominion.

Either way, there's no shortage of things to talk about around here this summer...

My guess is they're just moving the supports to a different site to make room for the track. Either that or they really want to keep the new ride at KD a big secret. Heck, maybe Mr. Kinzel has decided to give Carowinds two coasters for next year. :D

I thought about that actually, and if anything to me this indicates that the South Gate is going to be around for a long time. The turnaround for the coaster is likely to be right beside that entrance, which would provide a pretty great little area with Afterburn's batwing and the new ride. Another thing is that while none of the other Paramount parks had a second entrance, that's not the case with Cedar Fair. I am not sure about the rest of their properties, but I know Cedar Point has multiple ones.

Maybe it wasn't a mistake. The company could have just been storing the supports at KD until they were ready for shipment to Carowinds. Kind of like a mini-distribution center. Two different shipping companies could be used also.

I personally haven't seen South Gate in use, but I'm never there on full capacity days.

Whether the rumors are true or not, I'll be doing the usual morning drive-by on the way to work. CharlotteGuy lives next to the park, and Davidtmp has already announced he's going to the park tomorrow, so it looks like we're well covered (just in case). Not to mention the additional members who might be suddenly planning a trip tomorrow. If I get any photos, I'll just mail them to this site if that's OK with Jonathan. Probably be the quickest thing....

When I was there the other day it looked as though they still use the South Gate during heavy crowds. All the buildings looked freshly painted and they have one of those electronic scrolling signs out front. I figure if they didn't use it anymore they would at least turn that thing off or take it down.

The South Gate was OPEN on last Saturday June 6th.
Remember I'm still on the record that Carowinds is getting a large hyper or giga coaster with a launch start. Call me crazy, but I still stand behind that comment of a couple weeks back.
Off to SFMM on Monday the 15th while I'm in LA. Hopefully good reports from there.

If they did come here it may be launched and we don't have one of those or maybe it would be like Furius Baco that would be cool.
