When I rode Behemoth last year I barely noticed the trims, they didn't take away from the ride at all. In fact of the 5(?) B&M hypers I've been on the only one where the trims have been a hindrance was Raging Bull. Of course Raging Bull's layout leaves a lot to be desired outside of the first drop. :?

I'm new here and just stumbled across the news that the log flume is gone

I just went to Busch Gardens yesterday (Father's Day, a Sunday) and the overall crowds were probably a 5 out of 10. Apollo's Chariot, Griffon, and Alpengeist had very short lines. Longest wait times for any of them were 10 minutes. Alpengeist was walk-on all day, AC was walk-on until around 5pm.

What had the long wait of the day? The Log Flume. We waited 25 minutes to ride it. To queue spilled out of the maze and up the hill (and this was for one of the worst log flumes ever made!!)

I know that bringing in a first rate B&M coaster is really what Carowinds needs to remain attractive in the national picture, but darned if these park operators aren't losing focus of what makes the parks so special. Bigger, bigger, bigger is great, but there are plenty of us coaster fans who want some variety. I am pretty upset about the gondola skyride not running at BGW this summer, and predict its doom in the face of the removal of the one at KD and WDW. Rides like that, the log flume, smallish coasters are what set these parks apart from ordinary traveling fairs.

I'm sure that the leaky log flume was costing a lot to operate and maybe putting a lot of chemicals into the ground. In the face of having a water park in the gates and the Rip Roarin' Rapids, the log flume seemed redundant and not worth the effort. However I fear that the parks are becoming just kiddie-land + megacoasters with nothing in-between.

^ Slow down buddy. For all we know our ride could be of the same caliber (even brand) as KD's new giga. We'll have to wait and ride both before judging.

Giga's are pretty awesome though.

Here we go. Complaining about getting a hyper, which we've asked for for the past 10 years.

I'm actually a bigger fan of the B&M hypers, over the Intamin ones so I'm very happy.

No, I haven't been on Bizzaro, but frankly I can't see it being that much better to knock out Diamondback in the front row and the insane air on it.

And as far as trims on B&M Hypers, the only time the trims ever came on Goliath or Diamondback, it was because it was a full train and to me it made the air time BETTER, not worse. It's NOT like the trims on Beast or Mean Streak that slow the thing down and take away the air time.

I certainly hope our hyper is of the same caliber. If it turns out to be a kiddie coaster, you will never hear the end of it from me. I don't think we have to worry about KD's new giga being better than Millennium Force though. Cedar Fair wouldn't do that to their home park would they?

^ How is everyone so sure our's isn't an Intamin? We have no confirmed details.

Also carowindsman, how could you possibly complain about a huge new coaster coming to Carowinds? Kings Dominion is a really short drive anyways to enjoy the new Giga. 2 Huge new coasters within close driving distance = GOOD THING.

So it has began! What people need to think is that Carowinds and KD are a mere six hour apart for those of us that do travel. This is and will be a great year in 2010 for new rides and such. I would just be happy to know that Cedar Fair is spending the change to build a new ride at Carowinds in 2010. I mean they could have just said screw em and sent the money to build the new ride to another park. Just be happy that we are getting something for that is better than nothing at all.

And yes Superman/Bizar is a much better ride in my view but to make sure I will do a road trip to see if it still is, but Diamond is one heck of a ride though.

Now lets get back to the matter at hand and talking about Carowind's new ride for I think the Giga has its own thread. Did anyone get some pics of dirt the last few days?

In my opinion the Carowinds site looks bigger. This is including the parking lot that is closed off. I didn't even think a giga could fit in the cleared area of KD. :?
