General Carowinds discussion

Just got back from the park. Rebars have started going into the ground and trucks are still pouring cement. Also there are black tarps around the holes, there were 5 or 6 of those. No pictures. Also, this may have already been posted, if so, sorry.

Bottom of hill perhaps?

This strange looking piece will be the top, and connect to the lift track.

Unfortunately NONE of the supports that I saw have paint on them.

There are a ton of smaller ones here.

To the first image, I think that will be a part of a helix.

The bent platform will be for the catwalk at the end of the ride, similar to Diamondback. After the small hill after the splashdown, the track slants downward. Then, it gets almost level with the ground. That bent piece will be where the track goes from the slant to level part.

I agree that the third picture is probably for the bottom of a drop (i'm thinking first or second drop). It appears that it will curve, although I can't tell is to the left or right (if you look closely, You can see triangles on the outside on the furthest part of the track).

I don't recall seeing a strange connection for the support to the lift hill track on Diamondback nor Behemoth.

It will be a while before the supports start arriving since none of them have been painted.

The smaller supports will be used for the transfer track, storage shed, any final brake run track, and even a couple short (but beefy) ones will be used throughout the ride.

***Before people yell at me and say, "You don't know any of that. Don't say it as a fact!": I don't know any of what I just said to be neccessarily true. I do, however, believe all of what I just said. You can take it for a grain of salt it you'd like. But, look at other coasters. Most of what I just said can be found on other coasters.***

I will sell my first born for the coaster to be a B&M just to shut up a particular KD poster...

I believe Don Helbig (PR Manager for KI) said the footers were about 30 feet deep for Diamondback.

I think you're thinking of the Diamondback reveal date. I think it is strange that out of 365 days that CF picks the exact same date, one year apart, to reveal two coasters. What a coincidence.

And I doubt someone would be arrested for walking a land that isn't blocked off  .

I'll believe it will be around the same height as the skytower when I see it. Things can get a little exagerated. I'm still leaning toward 250ft at most.......I guess if around the height of the skytower being within 70ft, then yes.
Haven't been camping over there in ages. Glad you had a good time, good place to watch the Fireworks and not have to worry about traffic!!

:? I dunno. I can believe the track length but the height? I have asked some employees, but they really seemed like they didn't know much about this. One hinted at a hyper because of the construction site shape, and I think that is true, but I think this is a rumor. That would be incredible though, hope he's right!

Just saw the picture of the black tarps on here. I can tell you they are there for the prevention of a construction worker falling in.

EDIT: If you look closely at the first picture by BK 1870, it seems they are trying to preserve the drain from the former pond. Wonder why...
