Sounds right...Look at the KD site and see that what the track is laying on....Should be strips about 4 to 6 ft long I guess. Maybe 4x4's?? We'll see when I see the pic.

you know when the first piece of track arrives this site is going to go crazy. Also the amount of space they have allowed for this coaster is huge I was looking on google maps. (Im saying that in comparison to the other coasters at carowinds) Probably for all the sidewalk for all the lines :). Welcome back to 4 hour waits. Hopefully carowinds will incorporate buildings to wait in line in maybe theme it up a little and is it too much to ask for fast passes or single rider lines? PLEASE

I suppose this means that track will arrive soon?

Hey everyone. First timer here on this blog. I am not real familiar with posting on blogs so I am a greenhorn so forgive me if I mess this thing up. I have been reading daily for a few months now. Thanks to those who look after this thing as you do a great job. I am likely one of the older ones on here as I am 40. I remember the park back in the early days of the chair skyway, Raging Bull, Oaken Bucket, the monorail, White Lightning and so forth. I am an amusement park and roller coaster geek but not likely as big as some of you. I guess my two main 'claim to fames' would be that I was the name winner for the Kentucky Rumbler at Beech Bend in 06 and was there at opening day on the front row. I am also one of Duane's main geography/park researchers on RCDB and I have been working with him for 3 years now. He mentioned the other day that he will list the park in the 'NEW FOR 2010' section when track arrives even before an official announcement or an actual announcement itself.

As for the new coaster, I do strongly believe it will be a B&M hyper coaster. Lance (Screamscape) said something to the effect as their was no doubt in his mind a while back. I am not for sure of some of your screen names and who all did what but thanks a ton to whoever took the Claremont Steel track photos as well as the possible footers/lift hill diagram. Great job. I am not for sure if anyone has done this before and if so, I apologize for repeating something but I did a simple 'path' measurement on Google Earth based the info that we do know and even on a simple out and back layout with a helix (coming back into the park) and then back to the station, I am getting a length of at least 4500.' That is not counting anything vertical. So it would appear this thing should be at least 4800' or more. This is a very similar path that one of you did with the map, drawing and such a couple of weeks ago, which I think will be really close. Great job there as well. To give you an example of drawing the path measurement on Google Earth, I did Nighthawk and came up with 2640 feet and the actual is 2766 feet. Of course, you cannot figure the vertical into it but an idea anyways an idea. As for my guess, I would say 220-240 feet tall, 4800-5000' long and 75 +/- mph. Also, yes, I DO agree that all of this speculation with names, stats, layout and such IS fun and it does give us something to do while we wait. Nothing wrong with that.

I got you whipped.. 57 years old!!! I went to Carowinds in 1974 for the first time! It sure has changed since then. But I've gotten many rides on GoldRusher since then (the original roller-coaster).

And you are probably spot-on on the new ride. The length will be longer than your estimate due to the vertical parts of the ride.... so it should be massive in length.... for a nice long ride.

And did I spot a message earlier about some cleanup work around the BRIDGE???? Hmmmmm...... let me repeat.... instead of a splash area.... take the trains on the return past the Station, let them coast under the bridge, then make a short fast helix turn (on the right side of the park past the bridge, and return back to the station.... wouldn't cost much and would let the public SEE the ride in action.... we can only dream, can't we??? :)

I believe there were wood type of planks, heck from this view they may even be boxes..I can't tell.

Looks like the steel won't be tooooooo far behind now...

That's my guess too, I just thought I should snap a picture. Sadly I don't think it will go under the bridge, if it would be going under the bridge than we would see some kind of markers. At least I think, you never know.

I will take credit for all of these things ( ), except for the last one which I think you are referring to with this image which was John43221.

Welcome to the forums!

I think this will be the future splashdown site, but thats obvious.

Lift hill prep?

Image

A ton of rebar has been installed over here

Image

Drill has been moved over here

Image

Image

Under the bridge? I don't so honestly..

Image

On to the parking lot and some interesting things have popped up there...and no it's not more rebar..sorry :(

Image

The guesses on here is that it's wood to lay the track on, which I believe to be correct.

Image

Who cares about that? MORE REBAR!

Alright back to the wood,

Hmm whats this?

Sorry I could not take more, as the sky fell down and had an ocean of rain carowinds. Lucky I got some good rides though.
