I spoke with a supervisor while waiting in line in the rain. I know that the employees don't know anything but the supervisors do. I was just curiously asking one of the ride ops while I was in line. I asked this person what they were building she told me that she doesn't know. So I asked who is designing it, she told she didn't know and went over to their supervisor. I overheard the question and the answer was B&M. She came back and told me B&M. I then asked what all he could this person tell me and she went over and got him. He then came over to us and told us all that I just told you. It's hard to tell you the whole ordeal because I dont want this individual to get in trouble. Believe what you want but there were about 5 other people next to me including two of my friends. If you want, you can PM and I'll give you the name of this person as well as the rides that they work and you can go ask them yourself.

Well when I asked the guy he told me it was going to be pink and have daisy flowers painted all over it!

Come on man im sure that story has been told everytime we know that a new ride is coming!

^^ The supervisors know nothing. I am very good friends with one. There is a very good chance that was made up. The only people who know what we are getting outside the upper-level management and the construction workers/company are those who saw the plans online a few months ago. And DO NOT give the name of the employee to anyone. They can lose their job for something like this, even if it was made up...

Here's my two cents on the matter: I know a little about construction, and I, like many people here, have watched the construction of many coasters over the years. That said, I feel that the individual comparing it to a foundation probably is close to correct. The footer (assumedly) forms the base of the lift hill, and thus it will have to carry a lot of load. The four footings must also remain perfectly in square with each other for obvious reasons, so I believe that fact accounts for the "one large slab" method. Price also probably accounts for some of the decision, as it may be cheaper to pour one large footing in hard clay than drill four separate, deeper footings. If you look closely at it, you can still see rebar poking out of the top of the footing. I believe that the remaining rebar will be for formed pours to form the actual footers that the coaster will sit on, because the part that is already there is too far below ground level for a coaster support to sit on. The part that already has been poured is simply ballast, if you will, for footers that will bear a lot of load.

Operating under the assumption that my previous speculation is correct, the reason we have not seen additional pouring is because they are waiting for the large pour to cure before they can pour the actual ride footers on top of it. The actual footers will most likely be cardboard-formed, as well as all the other ride footers, and as anyone who has had to move a wet cardboard box will know, footing tubes would probably be rendered useless if they sat out in the rain for days before concrete was poured. I suspect we will see a lot of rebar dropped in, and in a week or so, once the large footing has cured, the forms and the concrete trucks will show up en masse.

Disclaimer: this post is 85% pure speculation, based wholly on my observations of the construction process of other coasters and the basic knowledge of engineering and construction that I possess.

tl;dr: They ain't ready for cardboard forms for the footers, so there's none on site yet. Also, the big footer is not finished.

The hilarious thing to me about people getting information from park employees is that some of the employees actually get their information from this site, so it's just rumors feeding around in a big circle.

Well I'm the noob on the board but have been researching this extensively and what I have concluded from various forums is that carowinds has yet to receive any track and are getting a B&M Hyper and it will be red and wouldn't you know it there is undelivered red track outside of B&M. Also just to toss out there, could this clearing of the log flume not be entirely for a coaster station but possibly the beginning of the change from nickeloden to Planet Snoopy? Thats quite a big area for a just a station.

you know, its a shame you had to go to "various" sites to get all that info when everything you just said has been said in this very site...

All that researching for nothing lol.

But I digress...you may not have known about this site until recently, welcome aboard anyway.

where exactly in this "extensive" research did you find anything proving 100% that we are getting a B&M Hyper? yes there are many rumors sayings so.... yes there is red hyper track in ohio.... and yes most signs do point to us.... but unless you can give a link to any proof, you're not really telling us anything we don't already know.

also, the reason the clearing area is so big is that the entry area to the coaster might be bigger than others, like Behemoth's entry... which has also already been said in this forum.
and it is still anybody's guess if those drainage holes will be used for a splashdown.

Me too. I'm gonna regret posting a response in this message thread but...the temptation is just too much to resist!

charlotteguy02 wrote:So while it looks to be a standard B&M hyper, who is anyone else to say that it is not?

It's elementary, me dear Watson. Although there's no certainty on whom the manufacturer could be what can be observed of the telltale signs of the layout gives reason to believe it follows the same pattern as previous B&M installations. With whats been cordoned off for Dora the Explorerâ„¢ Azul's Adventureâ„¢ and the Plaza Grove Pavilion 3 remaining untouched it's fair to say where the support footers & track positioning will be within the narrow strip of undeveloped land. Take into account the barricaded portion of the parking lot & I'd hedge my bets on a mirror image of Silver Star...with alterations of course...& lacking any lovely shrubbery. Since I'm part of the 49 in 50 that have truly nothing useful to contribute to the discussion...I'll be heading back to my corner.

charlotteguy02 wrote:Judging from the drainage surrounding a lower lying area and the giant boulders...I think this will be a pond with fountain.

Nonsense...it'll be a large concrete slab sporting many trash cans atop.

That's how KD has been pouring their footers so it wouldn't be any different at carowinds.

That one footer that's been poured so far doesn't look like anything B&M would do for their coasters...sure behemoth may have required something similar but that was over water while this coaster is being built on solid ground.

I know how....impressed Dave was with the theming and music when we rode it after the Flyer commercial shoot, and figured losing both would be a big blow to him.

Who knew Swiper was such a fan of cheese? Looks like he took all of it! :P

A Kings Dominion fanboy questioning whether we're getting a B&M or not. Why am I not suprised? It's almost like you're jealous or something that we're getting a B&M and you're not. You keep on questioning the project. Give it a rest dude. Not sure what there is to be jealous about either especially seeing how Kings Dominion is getting an Intamin Giga. Oh and Behemoth isn't the only B&M coaster with this type of footer. Take a look at Time Machine at Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach. ;)
