That's how KD has been pouring their footers so it wouldn't be any different at carowinds.

That one footer that's been poured so far doesn't look like anything B&M would do for their coasters...sure behemoth may have required something similar but that was over water while this coaster is being built on solid ground.

A Kings Dominion fanboy questioning whether we're getting a B&M or not. Why am I not suprised? It's almost like you're jealous or something that we're getting a B&M and you're not. You keep on questioning the project. Give it a rest dude. Not sure what there is to be jealous about either especially seeing how Kings Dominion is getting an Intamin Giga. Oh and Behemoth isn't the only B&M coaster with this type of footer. Take a look at Time Machine at Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach. ;)

Seriously, I could be mistaken, but I think every one of your posts in this topic has something to do with us not getting something significant next year. Why are you making this a competition? Carowinds and KD are both set up for something huge next year. Sorry, that you're not getting what you want, but I'd sure as heck be happy with an Intamin Giga. :|

I said that it does look like it will be a B&M hyper, but no one can be certain at this point, which is exactly what you just said in so many words. I am more or less playing devil's advocate because we have no official word of who the manufacturer is. Can you without a doubt tell me this isn't Intamin? Until that point it is pure speculation on your part, and my part, and the guy who said it would have a 90 degree drop.

Having said ALL of that, I too think we will see a layout very similar to Silver Star.

I have a date with Richard Kinzel's daughter friday night, I'll just ask her and let you guys know my findings :)

I agree about the not-siphoning-the-fun bit. Presumably we are all here for the same reason: we are all obsessed with roller coasters, and we ride them incessantly because they are....yep...FUN!

By the way, Chiknwing, I understood what you were saying in your first post. So, anyhow, here is my idea: why don't you wear a wire on this date, with a live feed to one of the mods, who can stream it live to all of us. That way, we will be able to verify the truthfulness of your outrageous claims. But of course, please don't forget to take the wire off when appropriate as we certainly do not want too much, ahem, "information". (do I have to add a smilie here to indicate that I am joking?)

I can tell you without a doubt it's a B&M. There are footer marking codes that match ones found on Behemoth's supports, as well as from SFoG's Goliath. Anything more than that is speculation.

What is up with that stop sign half way back on Silver Star? God what a buzz kill that must be when it activates. Has anyone here been on it? How bad does that mess up the return? I hope we don't get one of those. I know a little trim is inevitable, but damn. Is that there only to increase the ride throughput?

Why not? Consider a mirror image of Silver Star. First drop just before the parking lot then twist into 2nd hill straightening out towards the turnaround at the south gate. How about that?

Originally I was thinking that the angle wasn't sharp enough for it to be a 90 degree turn. Now that I look at some of the pictures again, it looks like the parking lot curves a lot more than I had thought, so that is a definite possibility.

No...but the cards are stacked against such a notion. Also don't associate us with the person toting the 90° drop because the thought defies logic. Unless there is another heavily modified car for the train the stresses placed on riders would be too great for the current version that was introduced with Behemoth. And you wouldn't be able to call it a hyper if dive machine vehicles were used no?

Newton's Engineer wrote:Do you have a diagram or top-down view of that layout?

I wish...would save a lot of face & heartache. Nope...but it's a pretty good assumption what with preceding designs from B&M coupled with what one can see of the construction zone. I'm sure Mecklenburg and/or Lancaster County has some sort of records available for the public from their planning departments but I ain't traveling cross country just to take a gander at them. Much more prudent (and enjoyable) to head on over after the ride is finished & operating no? 8)

Please notice that I didn't say it was gonna be an EXACT match...just that the procession of elements was going to be similar (sans the S-curve finale of course). I did contemplate Behemoth as a possible candidate but one of the helices would have to go. Whatever flimsy concepts I currently have will be made moot of course if more demolition occurs outside what we've seen these past few weeks. Then I'd be wrong (again) & apologies would be in order for getting everyone worked up over the matter. Besides...Silver Star was constructed in a parking lot after all. It was just too good to pass up.

Jstbcool wrote:A layout like Silver Star would be good, however, I hope they would move the MCBR to the end of the helix like on Diamondback.

Therein lies the rub. Where is the MCBR to be located? That will be the key to either a great or tepid second half. I went with the straight drop out of the MCBR into the helix (Silver Star) because it seemed the most probable. Having a helix into the MCBR (Nitro) or exiting the MCBR (Behemoth) places it too close to the end of the ride. But what do I know? I'm just the 800 lb. gorilla in the room. :P
