General Carowinds discussion

That really isn't too surprising. Last year's theme for Cedar Fair was "jungle". Prowler was called "king of the jungle", and Carowinds and KI both got rides named after snakes. Words of Fun had a similar crate to the one Carowinds had for Cobra.

This year it looks to be "racing" as the theme, at least for KD and Carowinds. The "Gee See Eye" at Cedar Point may join the fun as well, although with it being CP and them already having Dragster they may go their own way.

Hmmm, as far as the colors go, i have an idea.

On the carowinds website the banner says:

record breaking(white)
history making(yellow)
8.26.09(red)
carowinds.com(silver)

Could that mean red and silver track, and the cars could be white and yellow?

I think you are definitely on to something, but I would change it a little. I think it will be red track, yellow supports for the lift hill (a la Diamondback), silver supports for the rest of the ride and transfer track, white trains with red seats. I still haven't figured out why they did the two different support colors for Diamondback, but I am going to assume we will get the same.

^that could be right, too. But I don't like how Diamondback has 2 different color supports, and I really hope we don't get that too, although we probably will.

Oh, and when i put red and silver track, I meant red track and silver supports  sorry. but i hope everyone knew what i meant.

People often forget about Behemoth which, has the same support color for the entire ride, and is also a B&M hyper at a Cedar Fair park. Diamondback after the lift hill is pretty well hidden by the trees, where as Behemoth is in your face all around. I think our ride will be more 'in your face' so hopefully the same support color throughout.

As for why Diamondback has 2 different support colors, from what I have been told, it's so that the lift hill stands out more against the rest of the ride, rest of the park, and the trees around it. But the rest of the ride is in the woods so its somewhat difficult to notice from a distance. If there were no trees around it would not be as easily pulled off. Also the yellow and tan color look almost similar from some angles, where yellow and silver are nothing alike.

Just a few more posts and I will have completely convinced myself that yellow won't be a part of this ride..

From Cedar Point's Twitter page:

"I prefer my lunch TOGO...especially when there's lightning around."

If they go with a white lightning theme, that could work. But, I doubt ti'll be white lightning. Also, it could work for just about anything, so that color doesn't help  .

Also, they use that same herse at other CF parks.

The yellow on the lift was so it'd stand out more, and to sorta match the color of a diamondback. The rest of the supports are tan so that theyh blend in with the trees and it's not as noticable.

Ok. I was reading through the Carowinds' thread on KIExtreme.com. Someone posted on there "I was told today that it will be themed to Dale Earnhardt Senior and the coaster will be named The Intimidator.I was told the coaster will be red and black...more info later.

Edit-I just looked at the pictures and have more faith in my source."

Don't say, 'Oh. Doesn't everyone have their own sources?' That particular member has been a member for years and wouldn't just make that up. Also, Dale Sr. was born in NC...

I'll be extremely surprised if the ride is themed directly to Earnhardt, or even to NASCAR itself.

Why bother with the legal issues, restrictions, and fees that come with licensing - which CF has been divesting itself of lately - when you can get about 99% of the same benefit by using a generic stock-car racing theme?

So, because this guy has been a member of an online forum for a while, his sources are entirely credible? Seems to me his "source" just knew what we've known for a long time- track color, racing theme, the number three etc.

Boy, I tell ya, I'll never get tired of people posting this kind of stuff. Can't we just stick to making educated guesses based on available facts?

^^You're probably right I just don't want them to pull at WTF moment like Paramount did with Borg Assimilator.

I don't normally curse, but when I read the press the release I really wanted to yell out WTF!!!

TOP CAROLINA DRAGSTER.

Oh and wish me luck, I have an interview tomorrow with Carowinds! A real live interview!

I noticed a new Electrical box (Green and large) over near the truck gate into the dirt area where the flume used to be. Just near the parking lot. It is on the hill behind the Theatre in the Nick area. I tried to get a picture today and security stopped me and acutally threatened to take my cell phone away. It is a new box as I saw it being installed last week. It is also on new concrete. Does anyone think it has anything to possible do with a Launch?
BTW.....what a great new site!
